(Please forgive my English)

Concept of the MOD:

We all know that Bretonnia's infantry is among the weakest as a trade off for their powerful cavalry. And we can accept that for the balance of power. However, the problem is Bretonnia's infantry is too weak that they cannot hold the line long enough for their cavalry to arrive and finish the job.

So this MOD makes the infantry slightly stronger just enough to buy more time for the cavalry to rescue them, but this MOD does not make them super strong because I think keeping the power balance is good. With this MOD they are still among the weakest infantry but should be able to hold the line long enough for their cavalry (depending on your use of cavalry). Please remember that they still cannot survive a battle without cavalry support, so be sure to include enough cavalry to rescue them every battle. The infantry job is just to hold the line, not cutting down the enemy.

What this MOD changes:

- This MOD only changes attack / defense value of the Bretonnia infantry units as below:

- This MOD does not touch anything else.


Foot Squire: Attack from 25 to 28 / Defense from 20 to 25

Men At Arm: Attack from 27 to 28

Spear (no shield): Defense from 30 to 32

Spear (shield): Defense from 38 to 40

Men At Arm (Halberd): Attack from 22 to 25 / Defense from 40 to 35 (reduced due to no shield)

Compatibility:

- Tested with patch 1.6 with Bretonnia Free DLC, all seem to be OK.

- Should be compatible with any other MODs that does not change unit value of Bretonnia.

- Saved game compatible.

This is my first MOD, i welcome and appreciate all feedback.

My recommendation for using Bretonnia Peasant Mob.

Bretonnia has a big advantage that it can recruit very cheap Peasant Mob units. Although this has a negative effect to your farmimg income as we all know. But what many people don't know is that Peasant Mobs are not supposed to stay in your army for a long time. They are supposed to be recruited right before going into a battle to give your regular army some extra hands, and be dismissed right after the battle is over (if they manage to survive the battle, which i doubt), or when the threat has been eliminated. That way they can go back to their farms, so you will loose the farming income just for a few turns which is alright. You don't need them to stay in your army forever and they are not supposed to. They act just like some extra hands for a short time.

@ MOMO & YUNA , i agree with Lear that the weakest link is more the Leadership and defense of Bretonnia's infantry, they rout too fast and can't hold the line to Wood elves :p , would be great if the addon increased that weakness so they are not wiped out after 50-80 turns lol ^^

@ AlextheGreat: I am not sure , i have not played the game since the patch. Now i am playing Euro Truck Simulator 2. I will check when i come back to Warhammer.

first , thanks for you mod . and if it possible , i think that if you just want hold you lane i think that the leadship and defense are important rather than attack .

@ Big Serio, thank you for enjoying my MOD and your feedback. I intentionally leave Bretonnia's infantry weaker than Empire's ( just a little ) because Bretonnia has the most powerful Cavalry in the game. And Empire deserves to have the most reliable human infantry in the game because they have forged an empire through many battles, so their men are war veterans. And Empire lacks air units, so they have strong infantry and the best artillery for compensation. I try to keep uniqueness of each faction so when we play each faction we will require a different strategy and approach and we get a completely different feeling from playing each faction. I have played a Bretonnia campaign to 50th turn and my shield Men at Arms' defense got increased to 45 by a lord's influence or some technology research i am not sure. So that should solve your problem. However, if more people request the same thing as you, i will do it as a separate MOD.

Hey this mod is fantastic my man, but maybe you could buff the men at arms (shields) a bit more to maybe be competative with empire swordmens.... I just find that they are still sooooooo weak and can not hold the line what so ever.

@ Simon Cussonet, thank you for your kind suggestions. To be honest, i have not played it long enough to see the things that you pointed out. I have played Bretonnia just about 4 - 5 hours before making these MODs. I promise you that i will look into the things that you pointed out as i play more. But i cannot promise that i will do a MOD for all that you suggested, because i am very new to modding, currently i cannot make a complicated MOD, and i would like to keep uniqueness of each faction. So that playing each faction requires a different strategy and different approach, or different play style.
