Block Degradation 2 : Wear and Tear

Description
Block Degradation 2 is a continuation of the amazing mod by Rexxar.
This mod replaces "Block Degradation (wear and tear)" which will no longer be updated. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=760962823

Development of this mod has been discontinued indefinitely. Some functionality reportedly still works, however I will not be providing support.

This mod will cause blocks on your ships to gradually wear down and require repair.

There's two modes of action: 1, the mod will find random blocks on the outside of your ship, and 2, it will pick random functional (terminal) blocks anywhere inside the ship. You can configure the amount of damage it deals in each mode with chat commands.

The mod will damage blocks until they reach a minimum build level (again configurable in chat commands). By default it will damage grids that have no owner, and grids whose owner is offline (this is the opposite of version 1). These functions are toggle-able with chat commands.

The chat command "/degradation help" will show you how to configure the mod.

If you turn OfflineDamage on, OwnedDamage off, and set MinDamage to 0, this mod will effectively clean up trash for you by slowly damaging grids until they're completely destroyed. If nobody logs in to maintain the grid, it will be lost.

Known Issues:
  • Settings values shown in "/degradation help" do not update after you change them. They DO get changed, but for some reason the help message doesn't update.
  • Interchangable use of degredation and degradation. I know, I know. That's probably not going to change, but both will work for chat commands.

Planned Features:
  • Degrading specific block groups rather than only exterior and terminal options (will likely take the form of a couple discreet options)
  • Separate damage rates for atmosphere vs no atmosphere
  • (maybe) Account for nested grids (ie hangars protect things inside them)

Just a couple of tips i think for the mod. definently slow down the the wear and tear speed just a bit but i think what would help the most is that this mod shouldnt destroy any functional block at all it should just take it down to where it is no longer functional and on fire then stop. i think that might in my opinion be a better system. keep up the good work and ill be watching this mod closley to see how it goes

is there a way to change the default settings for two things to lower the degredation speed and to let it degrade online players (I know there is a way to do the latter in game but I am asking if there is a way to do it by default so each time you make a new game you dont have to)

you should put if it detect Text API mod you should have a config screen when you press enter to open chat then F2 to open mod config. there is already 1 mod i know is already using it. (Aero re-entry mod)

is there any way this could be added to a planet to make just that planet atmosphere damage grids and or players?

This works a bit too fast imo. I had the thought to cause myself a continual drain in resources and give my buildandrepair system something to do in between user induced disasters. But the sheer number of damaged blocks meant I was constantly surrounded in a shower of sparks combined with the strobe of welding ever present in the background. When I imagined things, I was picturing a spark every few minutes. Could you make the damage timer configurable as well?

TLDR: Don't combine with build and repair or nanite factory, unless you have a high tolerence for strobe lights. Please make damage timer configurable.

This is ripe for server admin abuse and we have enough problems dealing with Klang but it explains a few things when I've been on certain servers.....

For some reason this mod do damage to the blocks too fast. Terminal block has been destroyed within 2h.
