Description
Version: 1.3a
This gamemode was created for the 2016 Gamemode Competition. I won third place!


What is Chestburster?
It is a loot race where you open chests and knock out other players in order to come out on top, but be warned, some chests don't like being touched. Use Weapons and Powerups you find in chests to gain the upper hand in battle against other looters and become the king of Chestburster!

Useful Console Commands
* = superadmin only
chbu_debug* - Shows indicators for chest spawns to make placement alot easier. (toggles)
chbu_addchest* - Places a chest spawnpoint at your current position.
chbu_removechest* - Removes a chest based on its key number. (look at numbers next to chest spawns with debug enabled)
chbu_savemap* - Saves the current chest spawn table to a file.
chbu_loadmap* - Loads the spawns for the map, if available.
chbu_clearchests* - Clears the chest spawn table if you want to redo your placement.
chbu_printspawns* - SERVER ONLY, prints chest spawn table to console.
chbu_restartgame* - Restarts the entire game.

chbu_help - Shows a bit of help ( incomplete, will replace with an actual help menu / tutorial )


As of 1.3a, setup is not required to play the game! Just make sure you have either CS:S or HL2:DM maps installed.

chestbusters and facehuggers give me pstd so im glad this doesnt contain face hugging or chest busting in terms of the human body

Yes, Chestbursters are a type of alien in the Alien franchise that bursts out of human chests.

It is also the name of my gamemode where you burst open chests to gain loot. I don't see the problem.

Updated to version 1.3a! For those having trouble setting the gamemode up, it is no longer needed, simply download the gamemode and play!

If chests aren't spawning, that means the map you are playing on is missing spawn data.

The GitHub version contains spawn data for all of the stock HL2DM / CS:S maps, but you'll have to setup other maps on your own. I've also added some console commands for easily setting up maps and such in the description.

Basic setup is rather simple: As a superadmin, toggle chbu_debug in console to see chest spawns better, and then chbu_addchest to place a spawn at your position. When you're done, run the command chbu_savemap and the map will be ready to play on. You'll still need to add the maps you want to the mapcycle under garrysmod/cfg unless you edit in a custom mapvote system ( which is also easy to do, I've provided steps in the code comments where mapvote is handled ).
