Description
Battlepods take up 0 space and add 50 percent space. Also costs a lot more.

So battlepods create free space but take up space. That's odd so I just made them take no space and just add space. Then to balance them, if such a thing is even possible, I made them more expensive. They cost 10 times more for frigates and 4 times more for Doomstars than they did before.

Made by request.

Ships need more room in the new MOO game. I feel the creativity from the previous games is a little suffocated in this one.

But I agree that it is weird that battlepods take room in this version... I know in MOO2 they didn't actually cost too much and took no room up themselves. They were amazing lol

i totally agree with loco there should be one like there use to be that allows overpowered ships!!!! i have tried myself but havent found a way to make it so?????

No, specials do not miniaturize in this game. Their size and cost do vary with hull size though so they increase in size with bigger ships.
Hyper-X-Capacitators are quite highly regarded as one of the best specials and likely the fourth most used special after battle pods, heavy armor, and reinforced hull.
The Hyper-X takes up 160 space on a titan. Titans have 1400 hull space. They'll use up about 700 for shields and engines. That leaves 700 for other systems. If you use even 320 of that space for energy weapons then the Hyper-X saves are much space as it uses. Any more and it's all profit. The Hyper-X uses half as much space on each successive step down in hull size and thus requires half as many energy weapons to break even and stard profiting in space.
No sir, the Hyper-X is quite good as it is.

While I can appreciate that battle pods take up space, why do the MOO devs complicate things by saying they add 25% when they do not? The question naturally arises, "Why not just say, adds 20% space and use no space?"

I suspect it is because that Specials also reduce in size as you advance in tech (thus improving the cost/space benefit equation). I have no idea myself how this functions if this is true.

Nice option but I think it is unecessary. If however you were to rebalance Hyper-X-Capacitors (which operate similarly but have a very bad cost/benefit), I think that would be a reasonable option.

Sure, there must be something on the inside that connects the battlepods to the ship so they would take up some space while adding space. If from a gameplay simplicity angle that it doesn't make sence. It's like the money producing buildings. Obviously a starport requires some kind of upkeep. But there's really no point in having starports add 8 BCs and subtract 3 BCs. Logically yes, it does make sense as a representation of how something would work in the real world, but in a game it just adds a bit of complexity and the slight potential for confusion, so why bother?

I don't know that it's odd that they take up space, just misleading. I mean it makes sense (they have to be mounted SOMEWHERE right?), but I think it would be more clear to players if it just said what the Net effect was. The change would be one entirely in UI with no "balance" necessary (they would work the same, but show the net increase with a space cost of 0 rather than the gross addition with a space cost... am I making sense?)
