Description
Remake of the popular Unreal Tournament Deathmatch arena Deck16 (or just "Deck") as a Portal 2 test chamber. The exit is where the Redeemer would be, but be aware of the sniper and the biowaste pit.

My approach with this level was recreating Deck's infamous architecture within the Portal 2 editor, so it wasn't designed with a clear puzzle in mind except for how some parts would be made with Light Bridges. The other puzzle elements got added one after another and somehow I managed to come up with an interesting chain of events of using laser beams, tractor beams and Conversion Gel. I would say the overall difficulty is medium to hard, but try out for yourself.

And since this was originally a Deathmatch level, there is a lot of focus on action. Many turret droids to take out, so beware. The top one on the infamous sniper position was supposed to be taken out by the Gel dropper, however, this only works with blue gel... I still kept the turret as a little challenge and as a nod to the original Deck16.

The hardest part was reaching the exit whilst still keeping the button-on-the-wall pressed.
Took me about half an hour to work that out. ("^_^)

It looks like a mixture of 99/Unreal's release. Granted, this map hasn't been changed much, if at all.

Good to know that! What version you might want to create? UT99, UT2k3, UT2k4 or UT3 version? Also, exporting the original UT Deck16 as an OBJ file and compiling it to a MDL (Source version) with proper dimensions to use it inside Hammer Editor, could help you out a lot in achieving the most similar remake in Hammer. ;)

Ah, well, I just experimented with the ingame level editor. I have experience with UDK and Unreal Editor, so maybe I will try Hammer in the future to make an accurate remake. Good idea!

I thought you used Hammer to make it. With Valve Hammer Editor you can create a perfect copy of Deck16 if you have the sufficient skills. You should try. :)
