Vortex - Carowinds, Cedar Fair by Joey Design

The Vortex is a long-time visited roller coaster - Today they call it a real head banger!

This real Coaster Vortex is particularly engineered to reflect the actual ride experience. All inversions are carefully crafted

Ride

The Vortex is a long-time favorite among park visitors and roller coaster enthusiasts alike. As you aboard the South's first stand-up rollercoaster, you will be sent on a journey that includes a vertical loop, an oblique loop, down into a carousel and finally into a flat spin. This ride is known for its nice views of the park and it's jolting twists and turns

About Vortex

Vortex is a steel stand-up roller coaster at Carowinds that was built during the last year Paramount bought the park in the year 1992. This ride, opened on March 14, 1992, on the former site of the Carolina Speedway miniature car ride

Ride Experience

The recreation: Riders depart from the station in a standing position, then ascend a small 90-foot (27 m) lift. A small dip, characteristic of Bolliger & Mabillard rides, follows the lift hill, preceding the curved right drop. A loop follows the drop and is followed-up by an upward right and downward banked turn. An upward helix follows the downward turn and is followed by a right corkscrew. After another upward helix and a wide turnaround, the train ends the finale brake run before entering the station

Type Steel – Stand-up
Manufacturer - Bolliger & Mabillard
Model - Stand-Up (Standup Enigma)

Thanks for your feedback! I side with you on this; I change the wording

I'd hardly call it a "long time favorite". Pretty much everyone I've asked hates it, and a lot of people want it converted to a floorless coaster.

That being said, I'm glad there's a replica of this pain machine.
