RPD Light machine gun [M16]

Here is the RPD, a fast firing deadly machine developed right after world war 2. Seeing an incredible amount of conflicts and wars this early SAW went through a lot before it was set to rest by its successor the RPK. Firing the same round as the AK47 the 7.62x39mm cartridge it certainly is the product of someone "needing more gun".
