Olympus Space Station - LS-2710

Description
/////// OLYMPUS SPACE STATION \\\\\\\

Newer updated Hermes station = smaller and less complex
http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=801596758

newer updated Atlas station = better multi player, but large
http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=796892389

1. Main Support Features:

x4 Primary Docking Arms - (x8 merge blocks docking ports) designed to dock x4 corvette sized and x4 cruiser/carrier sized vessels.
x2 Primary Hangar Bays - (x4 Shuttle Pads, all internal bays, 4x6x9 volume)
x4 Airlock Bays - (internal bays, 4x5x6 volume)
x8 Small Landing Pads (exterior), plus x1 landing pad on the roof.
x3 Small Craft Bays - (interior bays, 2x3x5 volume)
x1 Large Landing Pad - (exterior)
x2 Large Ore Collector Station
x11 Jump drives, aprox 2,000+ km range
Several external connector points for cargo transfers or refueling
x4 Refineries (off by default), isolated by sorters (whitelist/blacklist optional)
x4 Assemblers (off by default)
x4 LCC
x8 Hydrogen Tanks
Gravity Elevators to access the upper Reactor / Cargo area more easily (off by default)
x1 Main Lower Observation Deck
x1 Medical / Cryo Bay (two medical stations and x24 cryo pods)
x1 CIC / Control & Command Tower (Auxillery Med Bay)
x1 Repair Projector (off by default)

Open common areas with sectional air-tight blast doors (Central Column and Docking Ring) as well as numerous observation decks (central column has x4 Cryo Pods). It's possible to fly a small craft or drone around the interior of the docking ring from shuttle hangar to shuttle hangar if needed.

Most common hotbar commands (lights, thrusters, weapons, jump drives, cameras, etc, etc) are tied in through the Station Remote Control unit, which should have a "control" function on the hotbar of every CIC / Engineering control station, turret control cockpit, or CIC flight seat. The decorative control stations have no default hotbar settings. The interior lights and external flood lights are all turned off by default.

2. Orbital / Space / Landing Characteristics:

Ion thrusters for orbital stability and minor maneuvering adjustments, hydrogen thrusters for heavier movements or low gravity landings in order to anchor the base on Lunar Surfaces or Astroids. Anchor / Landing Gear (Main, Foreward, Aft) for securing the station to an asteroid or lunar surface.

It's suggested that a heavy armor landing pad or anchor pylons be created first in order to secure / anchor the station as a support base to any Voxel surface. Jump Drives allow the station to be moved around within the solar system (range 2,000+ km).

The station is capable of landing on Earth, but only if the base is not overloaded with ferrying other ships or full of cargo/ore, and will require a pretty full load of Ice fuel to get back to Earth orbit or to land on the surface.

It's also possible to paste the suport legs of the space station into the ground, which should then anchor the structure as a ground based facility instead of a ship, at which point the thrusters could be removed or remain as decorative. Warning: converting the station back into a ship at this point may cause the ground around the structure and parts of the structure to explode.

3. Game Play & Design:

Testing of the Outer Ring docking arms with four Challenger cruisers, all docking ports work but all of the shorter inner docking ports are a tight fit for the Challenger or similar sized ship and may not support larger cruiser / carrier vessels, the shorter ports are meant to suport corvette or frigate sized large block ships.

Intended as an orbital space station or remote support base for asteroid or lunar mining operations or just a place to park all your ships. Air tight sections with blast door partitions for open or closed survival / creative game play. Also designed to be easily configured for an assortment of roles, such as being used as an in-game set/prop, created with large hallways and open interior space and lots of windows, there was some intention to also function as a possible multi-player pvp fortress.

Frame rates 115 fps and Sim Speeds are 1.0 at full 1080p and don't seem to have any issues as long as the base is immobile and/or anchored to a surface. When flying / moving the station with everything active (lights, elevators, refineries) my sim speed drops to around 0.6 - 0.7 and FPS 45 is a little choppy but still pretty smooth. GTX 1060 and 4Ghz Quad core i7.

Vanilla Friendly, with no moving parts (no rotors or pistons). The overall look and design is a little bit inspired by both Halo and 40k settings, but otherwise just trying to be both practical and asthetically pleasing.

Notes: For better performance turn off the external flood lights, auxillery hydrogen thrusters, and anything like the refineries / assemblers and gravity elevators if they're not being used.

Scripts: Auto LCD, Auto Close Doors, Phil's Ship Diagnostics

Aprox 17k blocks, 12 mil Kg (12,000 Tonnes)

The version used in the video was the half finished build I posted in the morning, it was pretty much finished by that evening, but I'm glad they liked it.

Maybe I should follow the video add an auto self destruct, lol.
