Description
Darkness Divine

Osiris Co. Darkness Division brings you Darkness Divine *Redux*
This mod has been completely redone from scratch to provide extreme darkness to Space Engineers, while also modifying the game's settings slightly in order to make it look better all around.

NOTICE: This mod was designed to be used with darker skyboxes, vanilla skybox is bright and will not give you the intended effect.

Edit: I was able to tweak a few settings in order to keep this working with vanilla skybox, however, a darker skybox is still recommended.

A few things have been changed in this version.
- Darkness on all planets are darker in general. This makes lights necessary when travelling at night. That was the original intended purpose of this mod, and is now necessary again.
- Vignette has been toned down to the very edges of the screen
- Chromatic Aberration (edge blur) has been turned off completely.
- Vibrance of the world has been increased slightly. This gives the world a more vivid look without going over the top.
- Bloom has been reduced and the screen dirt has been removed.
- Emissive bloom has also been reduced, and is no longer as bright. I also tweaked the emissives themselves to be a bit more 'emissive' without the added bloom.

- All skyboxes will appear slightly darker with this mod. This is intended as skyboxes generally ruin the 'darkness' that this mod was made for.

Note: images after video are vanilla then my shader settings for comparison.
2nd Note: This mod does not include a skybox, and other skyboxes may not be compatible if they contain more than the 'skybox' portion of code.
If you need help making your skybox compatible, feel free to ask on the discussion board for this mod.

* If you use my mod in a video feel free to link it to me and I may add it to the videos on this page!

Want more than darkness ?

There are multiple Mods uploaded to go along with this, including dark themed skyboxes, different highlight colors, and some simple mods to change speed in your world.
I would rather these mods be versatile and usable with each other.
They are all located on my workshop.

Compatability with my other mods are as follows:

DD shader can be paired with any skybox, highlight, or speed mod on my workshop.
Note: you have to place the highlight over the DD shader mod id in your mod list when you load your game for this to work. The order of speed mods and skybox does not matter with this mod.

Original description: this was created because lights are useless at night on most situations, so i've made darkness ... dark, and you require lights to navigate.

@Polykatana Please do send me the error log, I'm not getting any errors when booting it up, but I will reload and try again. I am actually working on it right now.

Okay so here's the deal. I posted three comments and then I deleted them because I didn't know what I was talking about. Turns out, I didn't fix it. It still doesn't work. Something in the update went wrong. I looked at the error messages and it's having a hard time finding a bunch of files located in the... Pertam folder, I'm guessing? If you want me to send you the error log, I can. I know you just updated this this morning, so I just wanted to let you know how the mod is working, at least on my end, which is to say it isn't.

As an aside, really awesome mod when it was working. It blows other mods in the same vein out of the water, in my opinion.

That's probably due to having the ambient lighting turned down significantly. Once you're back in the light they are probably fine.
I don't really edit colors except for the environment, so it's possible they have some weird correlation... which isn't on me at all. I can't think of why a skin would be effected by environment colors.

i think i found a bug with this mod, both silver and glamour skins are much darker with this mod on

oh ok thx

Most of those are issues w/ the games rendering. I've contacted keen and they don't want to support it because it means changing how things work in the renderer -.-
There is a standalone blue highlight on my workshop page though and a few other colors.

is there a version of this that only has the blue hover outline. I dont really like the shading as it has some issues during specific circumstances such as when using a hand drill to make a super small tunnel you dont see your flashlight show up and if you are flying high in the atmosphere but still below the cloud layer on a planet during night time everything looks really bright even though on the surface its super dark.

I am not sure if it would, especially since the update. I had thought i replied to this comment but i must of missed it sorry. I don't think it would but you're welcome to try it as a local mod if you know how. i don't have ME so :x

It looks great, though I have to ask on account of similar mods simply not existing for the game; Would this work with Medieval Engineers as well? I've been looking for ages, and the "Oh hey, it's a tiny bit darker now, I guess the sun is setting" aspect is ruining the aesthetic for me.
