Ponthar Class Freighter

The Ponthar Class Freighter is built to transport large amounts of cargo from a planets surface to the orbit or between planets. It is capable of lifting 10 filled large cargo containers without use of any hydrogen.

The maximum safe weight for atmospheric travel is 21304 tons, which means that you can completely fill all ten cargo containers with ore. For heavier materials, you have to keep this maximum weight in mind. Fully loaded, it can jump a total of 1400 km due to 12 jump drives.

The ship is powered by 3 large and 28 small reactors as well as 80 battaries. There are quarters and cryo pods for 6 crew members and a medical bay.

3 gatling turrets with self repair systems are installed for minimal defence capability against pirates or asteroids. Armor however is only light. One optional mod is used to add an energy shield. The ship will work fine without this mod.

There is one airlock on each side. Three conectors (one left, right, bottom) on pistons can be used to transfer cargo.


Flight instructions:
The toolbar on the main cockpit is configured. There are three groups of thrusters.
Ion Thrusters - for flying in space obviously
Atmospheric thrusters - to keep the ship flying in atmosphere
Extra Ion Thrusters - used to escape the planets gravity and to land on a planet

I recommend keeping all thrusters turned on while flying on a planet for maximum maneuverability.

When taking off, try to reach 100m/s at a height of 5500m (e.g. above a lake), then you will be safe.
When landing, the dampeners will stop you at about 2000m (above a lake), so don't try to land on a mountain.

There are timer blocks for the connector docks.
