Enter Varan, perhaps the most forgotten and underrated member of Toho's Kaiju library! Varan is a rather unusual creature, resembling a cross between a monitor lizard (which is also probably the origin of Varan's name, given that most monitors belong to the genus Varanus) and a flying squirrel.

In his original 1958 appearance, Varan was awoken by a scientific expedition and proceeded to wreak havoc on Japan, completely unbeatable due to his incredibly-armoured skin. He was eventually defeated after he consumed several bombs at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

A second Varan appeared in Destroy All Monsters, where he was briefly seen in two shots. Varan hasn't been seen since.

Ultimo put a ton of work into making this model work and look good, so I wholeheartedly suggest that you make full use of this model.

Like most of the other models, Varan comes in four sizes. He's also got fingerposing (which you can improve with the Advanced Bone Tool) and a bone to move his jaw.

Behold, the very first model I've ever ported, remastered, and overhauled to actually look presentable. You'd need just look at the pictures to see the difference.

Also known as the "flying squirrel" kaiju, Varan is oddly able to glide using the flaps of skin along his arms and legs, Varan is nonetheless, a rather average kaiju. Still, he's a favorite among many fans.

Now I cannot stress why I've not ported this for gmod compatiblity before. That is because the model was initially stuck in a "flying pose" that I didn't like. After much tinkering, I've fixed the model into somewhat of a T-pose, and I've cleaned up the mesh for it. I've even rerigged the tail into a more straight pose with more bones to increase it's flexiblity and range of motion.

Like all my models, it comes in four sizes, and is gmod compactible.
