Daedalus Station (Mod Free)

Description
This is a large space station constructed specifically to provide a docking/building platform for large vessels over planets. It consists of a plus-shaped large station with a full shipyard, a large hangar for small craft with six individual launch/storage bays, two triple-dock arms, four escape pods, and one planetary-landing resource platform. It does not contain any refineries, assemblers, furnaces, or other manufacturing facilities, these will have to be provided by craft that dock with the station, or added on yourself if you like my station. Plenty of room for it.

The shipyard has 15 "ribs" per side, each attached to a piston, allowing the shipyard to nearly double in size for constructing larger vessels. Yes, this makes it super unstable in multiplayer. My suggestion? Don't expand the shipyard in multiplayer. There is also an extendable mooring point for vessels with a center-aligned bow or aft connector. There is no airlocked boarding ramp, because nobody has figured out how to make a universal one of those without mods. As soon as someone invents on, I'll update this to include it.

She is heavy, slow, and I wouldn't recommend entering more than a dozen kilometers into an atmosphere unless you like freefall. She has two jumpdrives, however, and can jump and maneuver without breaking the shipyard. She can also be remote controlled, as can the Icarus platform on her belly. Both Daedalus and Icarus have cameras, antennae, and laser antennae for your preferred control method.

Icarus is built to land on a planet, be loaded with resources, and then lift off again to return to the station. As such, it is hydrogen and battery powered with its own tank and solar panels, and flies rather well in an atmosphere. Daedalus, not so much, but she has solar panels and batteries as well as four large reactors.

There are escape pods, also. Pretty neato escape pods, if I do say so myself. Hop in one, hit 1 to turn on the reactor, 2 for the aritficial mass, 3 to open the esacpe pod's ejection tube door, wait a few seconds, then hit 4 to drop like an unguided rock. Sensors automatically detect the launch and reseal the ejection tube door so you don't have to worry about suffocating anybody still on the (probably) doomed station. Also these things are unguided and don't even have gyros, so you might want to bail out and jetpack just before they hit the ground. I skimped on safety for compactness. Don't tell OSHA.

Speaking of suffocation, the entire station should be survival-ready, though you might want to spawn it in creative, then switch to survival, cause I'm sure it would be expensive as hell to actually build by hand. Airlock-style doors everywhere to seal off the outside sections or core in the event of a breach. Medbay included free of charge. No lights because lagg, but there's plenty of windows to let in either sunlight or the warm glow of distant thermonuclear detonations. I don't know where you plan to use this thing.

Station is very loosely based on some design ideas from the very cool OctoDock by Xocliw: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=608434265

Other than that, enjoy my mod-free station. See you, space cowboys.

Name: Daedalus
Type: Orbital Space Station/Shipyard
Mass: ~9,500,000 kg
Power: 4 Large Reactors and 100 Batteries
Solar Panels: A Whole Bunch Just Everywhere
Pistons and Rotors and Crap to Break In Multiplayer: Yessir/ma'am
Thrust: Yes, but it's crap. It's a bloody station, mate. It doesn't fly, it maneuvers.
Gyroscopes: 67 (This is very insufficient and it turns like a galaxy, only slower. Sue me.)
Medbay: Yes (1)
Length: ~320 Meters
Width: ~280 Meters
Height: Tall enough to ride the roller coasters. Varies with Icarus attached, though.
Awesome Platform for Entering the Atmosphere: Hell yah.
Other Stuff: Neato escape pods. Windows? Air? Sensors? Cameras? Space?

If I recall, that's the OctoDock. I linked it in the description, it was one of my inspirations, whether that's it or not. I love the station design with huge glass windows. Stations should be more design than function IMHO, since they largely sit still. Hopefully this one's got a good mix of both. Thanks for the comments, blokes.
