Smoke Grants Concealment [WOTC & Vanilla]

Description
Changes Smoke Grenades so they grant concealment, as well as their usual defensive bonus.

Does it work with War Of The Chosen? Other DLC?
Yes. It also works without them.

This is a very simple mod, and works exactly the same regardless whether or not you have Alien Hunters, Shen's Gift or War Of The Chosen.

Just ignore the yellow warning triangle in the launcher saying it's not for WOTC.

Why would I want this?
I find the defensive bonus of smoke grenades to marginaly useful, at best, so I rarely end up building them. This mod is an attempt to make them more useful, while also playing up the stealth aspects of the game.

How does this work exactly?
All units (including enemies) in the area of a Smoke Grenade or Smoke Bomb when it explodes will instantly gain concealment.

Only units caught in that initial blast are affected, so units walking into the smoke afterwards will not get concealed.

In all other respects smoke grenades/bombs are unchanged. The smoke on the map still grants a defensive bonus as usual.

Is it compatable with other mods?
This mod overwrites the CreateSmokeGrenade() and SmokeGrenadeMk2() functions of X2Item_DefaultGrenades, and will not be compatable with other mods that do the same. (LW2 doesn't change these, so it works fine with LW2.)

ini edits changing the smoke grenade's stats should still work fine.

Any new smoke-producing items/abilities added by other mods will not be affected.

Just finished a campaign with about 280 mods, this one included, and had no major issues! Thanks for putting this up, opens up a lot of cool possibilities. Love how enemies use it as well.

A good step, but it needs to go further. In the original XCOM, smoke grenades were used to break line of sight. Also, you didn't want to be INSIDE one, because it would cause temporary choking damage. That's the way smoke grenades should have been implemented from the start, not some pink cloud that increase defense.

Love this mod so far, been playing with LW2. Funny thing happened though: went on a mission to stop an ADVENT retaliation strike and rescue civilians, so no concealed deployment. I popped smoke on my first turn, but none of my soldiers gained concealment. Is that a mission- specific thing perhaps?

Could you please make it configurable that units walking into the smoke after the initial blast are also affected?

A variation (Smoke Pellet or something similar maybe) that only smokes one tile and allows the user to conceal would be fun for ninja/Batman purposes. Maybe make them one-time use, just for clutch ninja vanish moments. Might be worth exploring if I decide to try a project myself. I mean, it would just be a pay-per-use Conceal ripoff with visual fx, but having a cost and taking up an inventory slot might be a decent way to balance it. Hmm...

Really enjoying this mod by the way!

i wonder is it possible to make it to where smoke grenades don't break concealment.

If the soldier that deploys the smoke is inside the AoE, does it affect them? Or is this what everyone is referring to, and I'm imagining someone trying to gain concealment after tossing smoke from four tiles out.

Combines this with Long War support grenider. 8 smokes of concealment. Totally not OP.

How do I make the invisibility effect work on smoke warheads from this mod?
