Yes, it was designed to have significantly improved performance over standard maps.
The open areas will always use a lot of resources, but I compensated for this by closing off the open area from the main facility, keeping the resource intensity low, and allowing for the best FPS I can provide.
When I release the textured versions and later update them to have preset objects, such as rocks and debris, then I may add ai nodes to help smooth things out during events and keep things immersive.
