Squids in Space!: A Splatoon Mod

Description
[Be sure to check this mod's dependencies, as it requires a species extender to work!]

A species mod based off of the cephalopods from Splatoon, the Inklings!
Grab your gear and start exploring, because now you can take to the cosmos as a cephalopod!

================

Features:

- A custom cephalopod species with their own unique pet, not-quite-custom ship, full custom dialogue and object descriptions, and all that jazz.
- Tons of custom colors and hairstyles to pick from.
- Entirely too many weapons, tiered and otherwise.
- Fully-tiered armor sets and a bunch of custom clothes.
- Lots and lots of custom objects based off of the world of Splatoon and Inkling culture.
- So much crafting? 20+ custom foods, 10+ custom codices, buffs, explosives, a custom crop and more!
- Five custom vendor stalls that sell assorted clothing and useful goods. One of them only accepts sea snails as currency, however, so be sure to hold onto those if you find them while exploring the galaxy!
- And so much more? There's a lot in this mod.

================

Compatibilities:

- This mod requires a species extender for Inklings to be a playable race. A good one is listed as a dependency.
- This mod is supported by Frackin Universe and should be 100% compatible.
- This mod is overall designed to be as compatible with as many things as possible. If you discover incompatibilities, please contact me!

- If you use Frackin Universe and BYOS, check out this awesome ship mod for Inklings!

================

"Bugs"/FAQ:

- Vanilla races may experience clipping if they try to wear Inkling chest items. Head and leg clothing should be fine.
- Similarly, Inklings look funny with some vanilla Starbound chest items. They can wear pants/shoes fine, hats may or may not fit.
- Can't find an item? It might be in the Inkling Crafting table, it might be unlocked with a recipe, or it might be sold by one of the craftable vendors. Common crafting items can be obtained from the two NPCs at the Outpost, too.
- Octo Expansion content is unlocked by buying and using a CQ-80 from the Outpost's Octoling vendor; it's like this for thematic and spoiler reasons! You may also rarely find CQ-80s in treasure chests on Oceanic and Flooded planets.

- There are currently no game-breaking bugs to my knowledge. Please contact me if you discover any, I want to fix them!

FU actually has a ton of tile effects, from mud and clay slowing you down, ice lowering your traction and incandescent tiles burning you. I'm sure there is a wealth of examples [github.com] to look through.

/Interesting/.

I'll look into it and see if residue can potentially be reverse-engineered. It would be really cool to figure out that kind of thing, with ink causing xyz effects on contact. Might be a good way to buff Splattershots too lol

I do want to eventually make microdungeon encounters with territorial Inklings, all in the same color and openly aggressive if you get close. It'd be a lot of fun, I think, just a bit of effort to make dedicated NPCs.... but that's not that hard. :D

I was thinking as well, you could potentially explore material mods to let you coat areas with ink!
There is a weapon in FU [frackinuniverse.miraheze.org] that leaves residue upon detonation [github.com] that could potentially allow you to simulate actual turf wars.

Even if that doesn't work, you could still decorate areas with ink in Tiled.
One of the few things I kinda wished for when building that ship was more ways to make a mess, lol.

Looking good, I'm a huge fan! The low-light heavy-glow effects going on has a certain "rave atmosphere" that really fits...
If I ever do more playable races in the future, you're welcome to them. ;)

It is alive!
Not currently searchable until you give it the all-clear, I included that vanilla version of the ship in the .pak for you to check out, under the 'frackinship' directory.

Actually just had an amusing idea for a furniture item, a 'Cuddlefish' sleeping bag shaped like a Cuttlefish.

Made a graphic [imgur.com] using some of your assets, let me know if it is unsuitable. Took me a while to find the font.
I have everything I need now so I'll let you know when I've published.

@ Lithoboli

You can go ahead and publish at your leisure, I don't use FU (I try to keep as few mods as possible so I can work on the mod without conflicts) so it may not be useful to me personally right now! :) I'll link it in the description here when you finish it.

When you get the chance, I'd like some critique/suggestions for the ship.
Also do you want me to send you the files once I'm done for review before publishing?

@ Lithoboli

That looks totally sick! Nice work so far.

I do try to allude to who the writer is when it comes to codices. Not all of them are written by important people, but there's some fun ones that are!
