Description
You know what you look like to me, with your good knife and your cheap scout?
You look like a rube. A well scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste.

I wanted to try something different - I’d not made an ssg before and I can’t recall any interesting skins for it so I had a crack. I’d originally pencilled in my list to make a Tigermoth, but I did some further research about other moth patterns for variation - which is when I saw the deaths head hawkmoth -- and instantly remembered the cover art to Silence of the Lambs with the moth over Jodie Foster’s mouth. It just so happened that there was an ideal spot for this as the bolt safety on the SSG anatomically resembles a thorax!

I did a rough mockup in 3D, developed it over time, until I ended up retracing it all as vectors to fine tune the individual colours and achieve a crisper line so the artwork resembled skateboard artwork rather than a soft brush fine art piece, which could also work but would look more bespoke rather than mass produced.

I’ve adopted a lot of artistic licence in that the ‘deaths head’ is more pale to resemble a skull, whilst adhering to an upside down ‘Y’ shape for the mouth, which perfectly surrounded the pin. I’ve added a bullet hole to the forehead as the scout is only really useful for headshots - which incidentally is why I never buy it except by accident. The cheek pad and handle resemble the striped abdomen, whilst the lower receiver resembles the bright hind wings; the front stand has been coloured to resemble antannae.

I’ve also spent some time on the wear. At top end Factory new there are evil red eyes ...which quickly fade away to the base grey by minimal wear stage. The paint chips off on the barrel and moreso around the scope base. The skull wears harder although deteriorates heavily by battlescarred.

I’ve left the scope alone as it's a separate texture and the workshop submission process doesn’t allow more than one texture to be supplied. I did use the dark faded green colour on the rim within the artwork to tie together though.

Let me know what you think! Also if you would like more new stuff or more variations on previous submissions etc.
