Halo D-77 Pelican VTOL

Description
No mods, rotors or pistons. Hopefully clang free.
Fully Vanilla!
Fully Survival ready and stocked (ammo, fuel).
Atmosphere and Space compatible
------------------------------------

The previous issue this BP has has now been fixed! yay! Had to rebuild some of the ship, but it no longer spontaneously combusts.
Woot, now with flashy running lights and interior lights in the troop bay!

I'd been planning on making a second version of my original Pelican for a while. SE has changed a lot since the first version, and has since added 2x1x1 slopes, pressurisation, and, of course, planets. A dropship isn't too useful when it can't go from orbit to planet, and hopefully back again. This version is powered by hydrogen, ion and atmospheric engines. I wasn't too happy with the aesthetics of the first, and wanted a more streamlined model. Hopefully this one is a little bit more refined. Unfortunately, due to clang making rotors and pistons into WMDs capable of demolishing just about any ship, I left out any moving parts (though I have experimented with whip's thruster control script :) )

Perhaps in the future I shall make another version with a door, and deployable undercarriage. I would be even interested in making a script-run version with independent engine nacels (vectored thrust etc etc)

I tried to make it fairly true to the original Pelicans (partly inspired by Halo CE, 2, 3 and reach pelicans). There is capacity for 8 passengers, but only one pilot. No co-pilot. There is also the capacity to carry cargo and warthogs/scorpions under the tail. Unfortunately, my attempts at warthogs haven't been too successful.

It has two rocket launchers under each wing, one ventral reloadable launcher, and one gatling on the chin.
The reloadable launcher has to be loaded manually from the exterior or interior.

The ship runs from batteries and small reactors. It also has several medium storage containers, and several connectors. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to hook it all up using large conveyors, so in survival there may be some issues getting stuff around the ship.
Note, and oxygen generator is located above the ramp, and the oxygen tank is connected directly to the cockpit, for access the oxy bottles. There are also seperate small containers with a rifle and ammo for each passenger.

I tried to make this faithful to the game series. It's not perfect, and there are quite a few things which I wish had gone better, but it was an enjoyable build, and I hope you all enjoy it too.

So long,
And thanks for all the fish.

I may also build a modded / scripted one with vectoring thrust and working door. I didn't with this one as SE has never been very stable with such things and I decided to play it safe. Now however, I might give it a shot. I very much want to replicate the cockpit shape of the classic pelican.

After building this in a server, I find the hydrogen doesn't last nearly long enough. I ended up replacing all of the seats with hydrogen tanks and then building a pod to go under the tail with a further 3 tanks, and it still doesn't last very long... so it seems this is a mostly creative focused build. I found a few other design flaws when using it in survival which I may update soon.

Issue is now fixed! Had to remove and rebuild a large part of the ship, but I managed it. Most gyros are now attached to heavy armour blocks.
Enjoy :)

There's an issue with the blueprint. Please read the description.

Funny you should say that. I fairly recently made a similar aircraft in a survival game that used that amazing prop/helicopter mod. You can be sure that I'll be working on a few other UNSC aircraft, as well as a revised hornet. Glad you like it ^_^

It is indeed. I would recommend using the hydrogen thrusters on the bottom.
