Description
When interacting with containers, move the inventory and container windows so they don't obscure the area near the player.

This is a purely client-side mod and should be compatible with all other mods.

*** TL;DR: Starbound v1.1 saves your inventory window location and puts the container window 4 pixels to the right. This mod changes 4 pixels to 160 pixels, which means you must manually move the inventory window to the left ONCE ***

Starbound v1.1: The devs have quietly changed the way window placement works: The game now seems to remember where you place your inventory window and container windows are positioned relative to the right edge of the inventory window. Unfortunately, the inventory window is reset to the center when you exit and re-enter the game world.

I'm going to call that a BUG in Chucklefish's code--and because of it, you must now move the inventory window to the left manually, once every game session. And given that bug, this mod still functions identically as before--creating a 160-pixel space between the inventory and container windows.

"My tooltips are cut off... can you fix these too?"

I may already have :) Please see the UI Tweak Collection here:

"But you can already do this?"

Yes, you can move the windows manually--but they reset every time you interact with a container or merchant.

@Fuzzybat23 you still gotta move you inventory out of the way.

This moves the container's inventory window out of the way, but the player inventory window still sits right on top of my character making it impossible to see the chests I'm opening :(

The game natively handles moving the opened container's UI to the left when I put my inventory on the far right of my screen, does this mod work with that? Or does it force the container UI to be right of my inventory no matter what?

So found out that this does not work with bk3k's inventory mod.

So i figured it out. inventory mods like Carlucci's Inventory that totally change the inventory menu break this mod. I was unable to get it to work at all until I reverted to the base vanilla inventory.

Yo, so idk what im doing wrong, but it seems that no matter what I do, this mod will not take effect. I do what "Immune to Bullets" says to do, and the inventory of the container I open still is glued to the main UI of my own inventoty. This is strange, as I used to run this mod all the time and it worked, but now for whatever reason its kind of just borked.

Still working as of 4/24/2022. As the instructions note, you have to manually move the players window to the left when you first log into a game session. After that the containers windows will pop up on the right. The very first time you open a container after starting the game, the container window will be right on top of the character window. Just move the character window then close and re-open the container and you're good until the next time. It takes half a second, it' not a big deal.

It works fine for me when following the instructions which say you have to move the inventory window once upon reloading the game, which then saves the position fine. I tend to put the inventory window to the left of my character and every container window then opens on the right of my character, with enough space in between to keep a good view of my character. I have not tried customizing the gap size, but I'm sure it works when following the instructions given.
