Description
The Geats

This mod adds the Geats, led by Beowulf!

The Geats were an ancient germanic people that inhabited southern Sweden. Likely related to the Goths, the Geats inhabited a number of petty kingdoms during the Vendel era, a period preceding that of the vikings. The Geats are most known for their role in the Anglo-English epic "Beowulf" about the adventures of Beowulf the Geat, who later became king. After being assimilated by the Swedes during the viking era, the Geats would play a large role in the shaping of the nation of Sweden.

Mod details

Leader-Beowulf

Trait-"Heroic Codes"

"Units adjacent to defeated, non barbarian enemies gain +3 experience points"

Unique Unit-"Tegn"

"Replaces the Swordsman, slightly costlier but somewhat stronger. Gains experience 25% faster and has a 25% chance to gain +40 hp if it would otherwise be killed in battle."

Unique Building-"Mead Hall"

"Replaces barracks, garrisoned units yield +1 happiness/culture for every two levels the unit has up to 6 levels."

Strategy

The Geats are a very militaristic civ that excels at experience production. By waging early wars with the Tegn, you can rapidly build an incredibly experienced army. During peace time, build Mead Halls and garrison your units to make up for the happiness/culture losses due to war. A good strategy is to position your units such that as many units as possible flank your enemy, so that when the unit is killed you maximise the xp burst.

The geats where the original owners of Götaland and the south of Sweden before the Danes and Swedes even fully settled.
Archeological discoveries date them further back than these two parties.
Also the Geats earned that name once they seperated from their old kingdom of Gotland known as the Gutes, creating to seperate kigndoms in their wake until the Geats took over the Gutes.
The land the Geats owned was Western Sweden, Eastern Sweden, Southern Sweden, and small bits of land in the north.
The geats signed a treaty to join the Swedish kingdom and become Swedish under the condition they where allowed to keep their original faith and culture, Christianity pretty much killed off the majortiy of it all but some survived and we are still discovering more today of this once great kingdom of warriors.

Hey i downloaded the mod but Beowulf and the Geats arent showing up on my leaders list any suggestions?

Any chance you could get me the logs? Specifically the files called database.log and lua.log (search windows).

You'll have to have made the bugged game in question your most recent (so if the last time you played wasn't this game, go boot it up and get the logs).

Neither the Tegn nor the Mead Hall exist for me, as they don't show even when i have their technology. What do i do?

Wouldn't make sense to give the Geats a "viking ship" as they are mostly pre-viking and weren't really prominent like the Danes, Norwegians and Swedes.
