Description
The Guanches

This mod adds the Guanches to the game, led by Tinerfe!

The Guanches were a Berber ethnic group that inhabited the Canary Isles. Though they lacked any real technology, they did possess a stratified social and political structure ruled by autocratic rulers known as Menceys, and many vibrant traditions. Tinerfe the Greatwas a Mencey of Tenerife who, according to legend controlled the entire island and brought about a golden age. The Guanches of Tenerife put up a fierce struggle against Spanish invaders, slaughtering the them at the first battle of Acentejo, a testament to their hardiness and ferocity. Many Guanche traditions are still practised in modern Canarian society.

Mod details

Leader-Tinerfe the Great

Trait-"Benesmer"

"Small chance a source of deer, sheep or Dogo Canario will spawn on hills whenever a citizen is born in a city."

Unique Unit-"Mencey"

"Replaces the great general, triggers an extra long "We Love the King Day" in the city where it is born. If disbanded, adjacent units gain +30hp and +20xp."

Unique Unit-"Ancor"

"Replaces the spearman, it is slightly weaker and costlier to build. However it earns great generals 50% faster, and if it ends a turn on a hill tile, it will gain an extra +1 movement point and +5 hp next turn"

Strategy

The Guanches combine warfare with growth, by starting early wars, one can gain several Menceys to bolster both growth and the experience of your armies. In peacetime, grow your cities large to gain access to different resources, including Dogo Canario, which are a civ specific luxury resource. Both tradition and honour are very good policy trees for the Guanches.

Supports-Core JFD's cultural diversity, YNAEMP, RED units, CIV IV leader traits, unique cultural influence, piety and prestige, Decisions, JFD's alt leaders, JFD's prosperity, JFD's Politics, mercenaries

Please read the below!

-Dogo Canario are a tradeable luxury that yields +4 happiness

-Resource cap is 3 resources per city.

I'm getting a weird unit that I can't seem to do anything with. I've got a lot of mods running, but this seems to be related to this one. It's a settler icon and says 'guanche building created'. It can't move, except it seems when it's pushed out by another civilian unit. Now I've got two of them, one in my capital and one right next to it, blocking me from moving my worker in to build a road. Any idea what this is?

Thanks for the comment! I think the 10xp thing is actually because I think the units gaining xp display +10xp twice instead of +20xp.

This one was pretty solid. The UA worked great, and provided good value. There was one weird city that never spawned any of the resources on its hills despite growing to a population of 36, but all my other cities spawned the max amount, so it wasn't a big deal. The ancor is solid, although it did feel like the extra production cost was unnecessary since it's a little weaker than the spearman. The mencey was good, although when I expended one to create a citadel the neighboring units only got +10xp each. It also felt like there should have been an alternate way to gain menceys, since their biggest benefits are domestic in nature. I engaged in a little warfare with my ancors early on, but that wasn't enough to spawn a mencey. So I think that maybe something like a specialist slot in your capital that earns points towards menceys when filled or something similar would be a good idea. Overall though, I rather enjoyed this civ.

@Juanmina

Assuming you're using windows, go to Documents, my games, Sid Meiers Civilization v, MODS, and put it into the mods file (though remember to unpack the .zip file first)

@renzino

Thanks, I appreciate it
