Edmund Fitzgerald Replica

Description
This vessel is a 1:1 scale replica of the Edmund Fitzgerald which sank mysteriously on November 10, 1975. I took two creative liberties to match the original vessel's max speed of 14 knots (additional propellers), and the rudder is the default rudder. It is possible to use this vessel as a campaign resource ship, the hull is made of metal blocks (1m) with an interior hull of lightweight armor.

I honestly love the song. I knew of this ship before but I haven't really got into everything that happened until last night. It's so sad to me... But I love depressing songs and learning how to change things. "If people forget mistakes already made, we're bound to make them again."

The back should be to specification, can't wait to see it!

@LCFR822 That sounds like a smart plan. I was talking to someone who used some wiring heatshrink around the prop shaft and filled the space in between the shaft and wrapping with grease. he said it worked pretty wel;

@Ganta Igarashi Thank you. I've heard the sealing is the hardest part; my friend, who's in charge of the physical design, has decided to 3D print the hull and electronics' cases to try and minimize the number of parts that requiring sealing.

@LCFR822 That's really cool. I have RC'd one model ship before and my big problem was sealing the stern tube so it doesnt sink and ruin the electronics.

@Ganta Igarashi Woah that sounds like a lot to keep in mind. Definitely stuff I'd be interested in down the line. A friend of mine and I are working on a proof-of-concept boat (currently on the RC scale) that drives itself around a predetermined path, and uses a LIDAR system to create a map of the area. Frankly the boat design itself is the biggest challenge at the moment lol.

@LCFR822 It is fascinating. Yes your assumption is correct. it is mainly the operation and maintenance of shipboard systems and that stuff... Very interesting because we also have to learn about ship construction, materials, electrical, controls, and seamanship. its a really rewarding course to be taking. I am really looking forward to my 2 cadet terms in fall of 2017 and summer of 2018.

@Ganta Igarashi That's super cool, Marine Engineering must be absolutely fascinating! I am assuming that means the understanding and application of both design and mechanical components.

@LCFR822 Yea. I am at school to become a Marine Engineer, so I'll see a lot of it :)

@Ganta Igarashi that's awesome! The lake shipping industry is an interesting one!
