A neat trick is to put the wheels on the sides like I've done with my Patrol Boat. http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657489112&searchtext=RMC
That way the wheels arn't the way the ship moves, but a frictionless barrier between the ground and the craft. Allowing for some very stable top speeds and high maneverability.
