FCR Gettysburgh Class Cruiser

Gettysburgh class cruisers were the first Border World domestic design and were used extensively to keep the peace well before the Revolutionary War.

As such they were the most numerous class of capital ship available to the Republic when independence was declared. Although old, the design still makes up the bulk of the FCR's fleet.

The Gettysburgh's combines excellent maneuvrability for a ship of its displacement with a powerful spinal mount cannon battery. This system can be aimed via special optics accessible directly via any helm console or the captain's chair. Further, the Gettysburgh's firepower is supplemented by a number of high caliber cannons and a formidable AA screen.

The small hangar located aft is capable of accomodating most FCR strike crafts as well as the venerable V-130 Cherokee Dropship adding to its mission flexibility.

During the Revolutionary War of 2176, the FCRS Gettysburgh and the FCRS Bunker Hill were able to jump undetected into a debris field near a major Terran Consortium outpost in the Ticonderoga system. Dropping off a small raiding party, they were able to capture the TC installation and gain valuable intel on TC fleet movement throughout the sector. This raid lead to the subsequent FCR victory in the area.
