FCR Constitution Class Battlecruiser

The Constitution Class Battlecruiser is the largest capital ship fielded by the Free Citizens' Republic. Its main and secondary gun turrets arrangement allows for a punishing broadside as well as good concentrated frontal firepower, while presenting a minimum target profile.

The asymetrical design, with the bridge being on the starboard side, allows this vulnerable structure to be shielded by the relatively thin hull profile of the ship during a broadside facing.

The Constitution Class also has a large hangar bay capable of supporting a number of strike, fighter and utility crafts.

Often seen patrolling with Independence Class Carriers, the Constitution form the close up might of the FCR Naval taskforces. It is also often employed to bombard planetside sites and engage other capital ships. It fills the role of both a traditional battleship and heavy cruiser. It is sometimes the flagship in smaller taskgroups surrounded by destroyers, frigates and other assorted escort ships.

During the Revolutionary War, the FCRS Constitution, the first of the class, held a key jump point alone against a number of Terran Consortium ships long enough for reinforcements from throughout the border worlds to arrive. The FCRS Constitution is now a museum ship orbiting Liberty.
