The God Chicken

Description
The Ancient Almighty Chicken God of Riverwood

In the rich and winding history of Tamriel, there are countless tales of divine beings, immortal spirits, and otherworldly creatures. However, few speak of the Ancient Almighty Chicken God, a forgotten deity shrouded in mystery and humor alike. Legends say this ancient being now resides in the quiet village of Riverwood, blending seamlessly into the pastoral life, though its divine power remains undeniable.

Origins of the Chicken God
Millennia ago, during the early Merethic Era, the Chicken God was revered as a minor but highly peculiar Aedra. Known as Cluckisus the Fowl-Eternal, it was said to embody the virtues of patience, vigilance, and surprising ferocity. Cluckisus was particularly worshiped by agrarian societies, who believed that this deity blessed their harvests, protected their flocks, and kept wolves, skeevers, and other predators at bay.

Unlike the more destructive Daedric Princes, Cluckisus valued balance and cooperation, often manifesting as a glowing golden chicken during times of need. It was said that those who disrespected Cluckisus—by harming its avatars or stealing eggs from its sacred coops—would be struck with unrelenting bad luck. Crops would fail, livestock would vanish, and storms would plague their lands.

The Fall from Grace
When the worship of the Nine Divines became dominant across Tamriel, Cluckisus faded from prominence. Without followers to sustain its power, the Chicken God chose to retreat into obscurity, taking on a mortal form to walk among the living. It sought solace in quiet villages where it could live without fear of discovery or worship.

The Chicken God in Riverwood
Now, hidden in plain sight, the Chicken God resides in Riverwood, appearing as a simple chicken pecking at the dirt near Gerdur’s mill. The villagers, unaware of the being's true nature, simply see it as part of the rustic charm of their small settlement. Yet, those with a sharp eye and a deeper understanding of Tamrielic lore may notice strange occurrences surrounding this seemingly ordinary bird:

Hunters who harm this chicken often report being mysteriously ambushed by swarms of wolves or even bears.
The river near Riverwood flows unnaturally clear and is teeming with fish, a silent blessing from the Chicken God.
At night, some claim to hear a deep, resonant clucking echoing through the trees, as though the earth itself were speaking in poultry tones.
Hidden Powers
The Chicken God is no mere bird. It is said to retain a fraction of its divine might, capable of summoning natural disasters or blessings with but a cluck. Those who have tried to steal the chicken or harm it in any way have faced inexplicable misfortune, often meeting their end at the hands of nature itself.

Adventurers whisper of hidden shrines to Cluckisus deep in the wilds, marked by golden feathers and offerings of seeds and grain. Some believe that gaining the favor of the Chicken God could grant them immense power—or at least ensure they never go hungry again.

A Warning to Travelers
If you happen to pass through Riverwood, take care not to harm the chicken wandering near the village. For what may seem like a harmless act could provoke the wrath of an ancient and vengeful god. Pay your respects to the Almighty Chicken God, and it may even bless you on your journey.

Tamriel is a land full of mysteries, and perhaps the greatest of all is how one little chicken could hold the power of a god.

Relation to the Dragonborn
The chicken will follow the last Dragonborn around with the intent to kill.
