START HERE. DO NOT SKIP TO BEHELD THE WORM
Click Enter

Entered Memory - You have entered a strange city and begun to unravel its mysteries. Does this make you feel confident?

At the top left, click the pen & quill icon. In the credits dialogue, you'll see an emphasized text regarding "Enter Free Roam Mode". Click it to unlock all items (objects on the right).
Click the pen and quill icon to return to the game.

- Click through all the dialogue.
Follow pathways to below the tower
Descend Stairs to Landing
Descend Stairway to River
Examine Institute Rear Gateway
Descend to the Promenade
Follow the Street to the Intersection
Continue to the Latin Quarter Boulevard
Continue along the Boulevard Towards the River
Enter the Imperial Opera
Enter Theater
- Activate Memory

Beheld the Worm - The Conqueror Worm holds you in its gaze. Does this make you feel afraid?

Return to Foyer
Return to the Boulevard
Take the Winding Sidestreet to the Iron Gardens
Examine Entrance Gate
Enter the Iron Gardens
Continue over the Walkways to the Blue Orchard
- Click through dialogue

Completion - You have reached the end of your journey. Does this satisfy you?

For anyone unwilling to enter free roam mode, the code to the safe is 1871.

If you get stuck on the credits and can't leave, I found a way out:

1. Hold "C" on your keyboard for 3s to clear the game. If the first screen of the game shows up, skip to item 3.
2. If holding "C" still display the credits, close the game, open it again, and repeat step 1.
3. Click to start the game. Click through a few parts of the dialogue until the first achievement ("Enter Memory") pops.
4. Now follow the guide! Click the pen & quill and select "free roam". Clicking the pen & quill again should now drop you into the game with the righthand icons unlocked.

The achievements are not working for me, none of them. Is it bugged for the Mac?

For those of you having trouble with this... You have to click the paper and ink, then click the actual text that says "free roam...." such that the tools on the right turn white (you don't actually have them until you do this) and then click the pen and ink to return to the game. Then and only then do the dialoge choices appear in this walkthrough. Otherwise doors remained locked and the "leave" option will appear as you do not have keys.

I can't return to the game after pressing the pen & quill icon :/ I see the credits all the time. Even after restarting the game...

Thank you for posting this. Yeah, the quill icon can be hard to spot. Makes a world of difference.

It seems that achievements don't work on Windows 32bit, as hinted at in the discussions, and I experienced that myself. Might be worth noting in the guide.
