Typhoon OSIRIS Supercar

Description
NOTE: One of the thrusters is white in the pictures. Don't worry, it's black in the game. :) Also, if you open the cockpits, turn the reactors and batteries off, get out and then leave the game, you'll notice that the cockpits will be closed and inaccessible when you load the world again. If that happens, just use one of the control panels on either side to turn the reactors and batteries on, and then press the button labeled "Canopies" to open them again.

The Typhoon Osiris was designed with one singular goal in mind: be the fastest supercar ever.

In 2068, Quantum Dynamics released their Quantum Legerra supercar, which was at the time the fastest consumer ship ever created, both on-track and in a straight line. Taking its inspiration from the experienced Earth-based sportscar manufacturer Lamborghini, the Legerra carried on the Raging Bull's torch by embodying the same lunacy and focus towards mind-blowing speed that the famed manufacturer from Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy had been known for in its day.

The Quantum Legerra sold like hotcakes for a supercar, and quickly became highly regarded as one of the absolute best vehicles humanity had ever made. In fact, there was a large glut of rich folk who wanted a taste of the Legerra's speed, but couldn't buy one simply because they were too rare and other rich people kept beating them to it.

Seeing an opportunity, Typhoon Industries - who had, up until this point, been known for their very successful racing team as well as their range of fighters, one of which had gone on to almost godlike status after helping to save the galaxy from the corrupt Sol Federation - decided to delve into the consumer ship industry with a supercar of their own.

But they weren't just going to make "a supercar." They were hell-bent on creating the fastest, most surreal ship ever unleashed onto the market. How apt, then, that they named it after the Ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife: Osiris.

Within four months of the Legerra's release to much fanfare, Typhoon Industries had set up a new subsidiary, Typhoon Aeromotive, and began transferring employees from Typhoon Racing to work on the new project, then codenamed Cerberus. The design team, led by Typhoon Racing chief engineer Tymon Barry, took inspiration from Lamborghini's rival McLaren Automotive and the approach the Woking, Surrey, UK sportscar firm had taken on their first road car, the McLaren F1. They decided from the outset that the Osiris would seek to emulate the thrill and adrenaline of flying a top-level racing ship as closely as possible. To this end, they decided to copy the typical design of a Typhoon racer almost wholesale: reactors fitted to the back of the Osiris' twin cockpits, fuel tanks fastened to the back of those, and two of the ship's four Azimuth Industries BIG mainsail thrusters fastened to the back of those, with oxygen systems mounted atop the ship running down to the oxygen ports on the bottom. The ship's two Azimuth BIG reverse thrusters shared a shell with the two outermost mainsail thrusters, with the shells themselves being used as heat sinks to keep the thrusters cool. For directional thrust, Typhoon once again enlisted RiderCorp, who provided the same insanely powerful RiderCorp Modular Thrusters that Typhoon had used in most of its recent racing designs, as well as the Typhoon MRS-2 Death Hornet II RA 037M multirole fighter.

Despite the discovery of a mysterious Typhoon R&D/assembly plant in the Far Rim and the intense public speculation that followed, the Osiris had been kept under such complete secrecy that, when attendees found a "Typhoon Surprise Ship" on the bill for the 2069 Detroit Aero Show, it came as a complete surprise to the automotive community. When the covers were finally pulled back on the Osiris, the black, white and red beauty was met with gasps, followed by a lengthy standing ovation. In fact, the first 50 examples, originally intended for a small dealer network that was still a few months from being ready to open, were sold right on the spot, with many more customers placing reserve orders. After the Osiris easily won Best in Show at the Detroit Aero Show, it was released to rave reviews, even as the first round of deliveries took place. Ship and Pilot called it "stunning and visceral," saying "The Osiris' performance is on a completely different level than anything that has ever been released before. The acceleration is nothing short of insane, and the ship's handling makes it feel like an extension of the pilot's hand; controlling it is absolutely second-nature, especially with the built-in gyroscope adjustment system."

In the months that followed, the Osiris won many awards and nominations; in fact, it was even successful in motosrsport, winning the galaxy's most prized endurance race, the 24 Hours of the Veil, over even the best factory prototypes, despite the winning Osiris itself remaining bone-stock. And now, an Osiris can be yours.
