Description
With Cemetery Blocks you can create the massive, beautifully landscaped cemetery of your dreams, fill a tiny, oddly shaped space next to a church in the middle of your city or even create a small family graveyard in the woods behind a residential home.

- Found in the Healthcare panel

- The blocks are non-functional and cosmetic only, so they can be placed anywhere and require no road access or utilities

- Several plot sizes to quickly and easily fill any size empty area

- Multiple pieces for variety and to prevent noticeable repetition

- Use More Beautification and Prop Anarchy to incorporate trees and grave props within the cemetery

LOD error... but the others in this collection work fine and look great.

Glad to see you got this published! Thumbs up on this. But yeah, for lods, there are various techniques to seriously reduce tri counts as Shroom pointed out.

Aside from that, this is a very welcome idea and we can make more realistic cemetaries in many sizes. Thanks.

Well, yes I can slightly look past the huge tri count number for the main models because I know how hard it is to make something like that with the amount of gravestones you need. The tri count will climb fast, I just can't look past the lod tri count though. Because that will be enabled 24/7 vs the main model which would only enable the huge tri count when I got close to it.

Thanks for doing a little analysis, I probably got a bit over my head for my first time project. I went back and forth with LODs and, I'll be honest, it kinda came down to laziness. I was getting frustrated after practically starting over two or three times until I learned the "right" way to do things and wanted to try to finish things up as quickly as I could understand how. I knew the tri-count was getting up there but hoped that with so many unique shapes and large areas covered it might be overlooked. :)

But even if it's more work, in the long run, I want things to be done well. I'll look into optimizing them. I think I understand the concept of your second solution, but not sure I know how to pull it off. My expertise, as it were, only extends to SketchUp, but I can fumble through Blender a bit if I need to.

Great work, a little too many cemeteries for me so I reduced it down to 6. You can see which ones I picked in the screenshot. The problem I'm having is that the LOD Sizes are just way to oversized. Even the main model is very big at 10 and 20k tris.

There is a couple ways you could reduce the size on the lods. First method would be to delete all the side polygons on the gravestones. It would be very hard to tell they were even missing from a distance and both sides would still render. This is the less optimal way of doing it.

The second method would be to place a single rectangular plane in front and back of the tombstones in each row then doing a texture bake of them. What this would do is significantly reduce the size of the LOD to only 64 Triangles! Even lower on the regular cemetery blocks for the 8x8's. Hope you consider adjusting the size of these files.
