Walking Bipedal Mech - Now With Turning and Reverse!!!

Description
Behold! The latest and greatest two legged endoskeleton mech of space engineers! It walks on relatively flat surfaces, crouches, changes leg length, and has full torso mobility! It also has cute little rocket pod doors that pop open.

*NEW!* ---> Mech has been updated to make turns left and right by a twisting action at the hip! The mech also now has a reverse mode, during which you can turn as well! See changes in instructions below!

This model was developed strictly to see if I could get straightforward walking to work in the first place. The entire model is runs off of timer blocks, and is relatively complicated. Tinkering with rotor and piston speeds can be fun, but also detrimental to the core walking functions of the mech. A lot of rotor settings are there for a reason. (ex: the rotors connecting the upper torso to the lower are purposely dampened to allow for smoother torso aiming)

Feel free to use this model as a skeleton for your own creations! I cannot guarentee functionality if you edit the mech, but the design is very stable (for a two legger), and could support much more weight. Just mind the centre of mass, and keep couterweights on the ends of the arms to prevent the topheavy torso top from tipping back. Let me know if you suggestions/make improvements on the design, any feedback would be useful for further development.

PLATFORM BUTTON PANEL INSTRUCTIONS:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First button raises mech from underground housing. Second Lowers it back in and closes the doors above it. Third and fourth control the exterior lights. Always make sure the raise or lower cycle is complete before starting the other, or things could get messy.

OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS: PLEASE READ BEFORE USE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BE SURE TO CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF THE ENTIRE MECH FOR GUARENTEED OPERATION

I have simplified the inputs to the programmed timerblocks greatly to allow for ease of operation:

- Press 4 or 5 to take a single left/right leg step. Always allow a cycle to complete and the feet
to lock before beginning a new cycle.

- Pressing 6 toggles walking mode. If you press 4 or 5 afterwards, the mech will start to walk.
Press 6 again during the walking action to revert to single step mode. This will stop the mech.

- *NEW!* ---> Press 7 to activate right turn mode, and 8 to activate turn left mode! These only
work in foward or reverse mode, and the twist in the right/left only occurs when taking a right/left
step respectively. Press the button again to toggle off.

- *NEW!* ---> Press 9 to enter reverse mode. THIS CAN ONLY BE EXECUTED ONCE THE MECH
IS AT A STANDSTILL. Toggle walking mode off if on [6] and WAIT FOR THE MECH TO STOP.
Right and left turning can be achieved in reverse by toggling 7 or 8 as seen above, but result
in a turn in the opposite direction going in reverse. Press 9 again, and the mech will return to a
standing position shortly.

- *NEW!* ---> Due to the complexity of the timer block operating system for the mech (like 30-40 timer
blocks) if commands are not issued exactly as above, or before the cycle from a previous command
has completed, errors can occur. You may find your mech doing a jig, moonwalk, or falling on its face.
Reload the world and try again if this occurs, and consult the instructions above. If you think you have
found an operational bug that occurs inside of the rules of operation listed above, let me know, and I
will look into it as soon as I can. :)

Other Bindings:

-1: Open/Close the Rocket pod covers. DO THIS BEFORE FIRING ROCKETS

-2: Rockets

-3: Gatlings

-4-9: See section above this one for walking operation.

---Hotbar 2---

-1: Reverse leg pistons (change height)

-2: Crouching toggle. ONLY ACTIVATE WHEN STANDING STILL

-3: Toggle lock left foot landing gear

-4: Toggle lock right foot landing gear

-5: Toggle lock on both feet

If only Keen would implemetnt modular mech parts, like arms and legs so we could control them with WASD...

Also, im not working on this project on the moment, but when I do begin working on liberty prime, if you have time, would you mind helping me maybe?

Thanks!

Sure thing Lazycollinator. I dont know how well the design works after the changes made to pistons and rotors, but you are welcome to modify it and post it to the workshop. Just be sure to at least link me in the description and give credit. Good luck!

Hello, I am the creator of the Fallout 4 VB-01 vertibird and I would love to use this design to create Liberty Prime. Would that be alright?

While I have no such ability to create functional mechs such as these, I do have one idea that could help delay the mech falling over. At least two oxygen/ion thrusters mounted on the back somewhere are my suggestion.

I might consider creating arms and upper torsos for mechs, if and when I return.
Edit: Your colour scheme and rough design is heavily akin to the UEF from Supreme Commander. Perhaps some visually distinct variants could be a side-project?
