Frostbrook Farm

Description
PREFACE

Be aware that this mod was made with Creation Kit for original Skyrim not Skyrim Special Edition and it has been stated on the SSE FAQs page that mods made for original Skyrim will most likely be broken in SSE. I have no plans to convert this mod or make a new similar mod for SSE.

INTRODUCTION

Frostbrook Farm is a lore-friendly mod adding a playerhouse with farmland as well as lots of new content to Skyrim, designed to add more immersion to your game. It will be located just outside the walls of Whiterun City, across the road from Honningbrew Meadery and neighbouring Chillfurrow Farm.
The house and farmland, home improvement packages, a variety of livestock and lumber are all available for purchase from the iincumbent Jarl's steward in Whiterun.
Why another playerhouse mod? Well, I built this mod partly in response to the numerous requests from users of my "House for a Hero" mod wanting to move their adopted children in and be able do a bit of planting, partially becasue I would often wander past the farms just outside Whiterun City and think "I'd really love to own one of those", and partially because I have personally found the Hearthfire houses lacking in terms of farming lifestyle options. As a result, I've designed the Frostbrook Farm Mod to allow you to own up to five free-range chickens that each lay an egg once a day and have a decent sized area to house either a cow or up to three goats that can each be milked once a day. The house also comes with numerous other custom features such as:
- a brewery that lets you craft an array of custom beverages;
- a teleport map that lets you teleport to and from all the hold capitals and prominent settlements across Skyrim;
- an ingredient cloner that enables you to clone even the rarest of alchemical ingredients (currently only works with core Skyrim ingredients - will update later);
- a butter churn that enables you to craft regular or herb and garlic butter;
- a forge that adds numerous new items to create such as clothing, jewellery and staffs;
- a staff enchanting station (no Dragonborn DLC required) with new Dragonbone Staffs;
- a tailoring station that enables you to craft your clothing including a wide array of mage robes and a wedding outfit;
- additional alchemical ingredients with some new properties and potions to discover;
- additional death-drop items such as new pelts and alchemical ingredients;
- additional recipes for the oven, cooking pot, smelter and grain mill;
- custom-made storage for the dragon priest masks and dragon claws secured behind a totem animal keypad locked portcullised entrance (one or two claws don't seem to place properly - fix in future update);
- a fishing pole that enables you to fish where ever you see them available and catch whole salmon that you can fillet into salmon steaks on the kitchen island when you get back home.

Once you have earned at least 5000 gold, keep an eye out for the Skyrim courier the next time you enter a city or town and you'll be handed an invitation to purchase this fine property.

MOD REQUIREMENTS & RESTRICTIONS
This mod uses content from the "Skyrim", "Update" and "HearthFires" master files.
Due to various features and content in this mod, you will need to make sure it is loaded just after all the official DLC in the Datafile load list.
This mod adds some content to a number of cells bordering each city and prominent settlement across Skyrim and slightly modifies the nav mesh in these locations. The mod also updates the Skyrim marriage and Hearthfire adoption quest dialogues and scripts and the salmon death-drop item scripts so may cause conflicts with other mods that also impact these features. All other features are either new content or added or modified by script so they shouldn't impact on other mods.
Please make sure you have saved your game before subscribing to this mod in case you find any issues with running this mod in conjuction with other mods.

MOD FEATURES
Please see Update: 27 Dec @ 5:54pm in the Change Notes section for more details about the features available in this mod and the cost of purchasing the house and each upgrade.

FAQS
The Courier Doesn't Turn Up; Is There A Way To Move In Without Him?
The reason the courier doesn't seem to turn up for some players is because I have set up a starting condition that the player needs to have acquired at least 5000 gold before the courier hands over the invitation to buy the farm. This is to make sure the player has been in the game long enough to build a reputation. So, to trigger the courier, you will either need to wait until you have acquired at least 5000 gold or, if you can't be bothered roleplaying it, follow my instructions about using console commands to add coin to your inventory found in the CHANGE NOTES section under Update: 27 Dec @ 5:54pm.

There Is No Option To Purchase The Farm When I Talk To The Steward in Whiterun.
Note: I've made an update recently in an attempt to fix this issue. Please do let me know if it's still happening for you.
First, make sure you have at least 5000 gold to trigger the courier to turn up and give you the 'Farm For Sale' letter. Next, you must open the letter. You should then get a misc quest option telling you to purchase the farm from the current steward in Whiterun (this will be Proventus for most players).
If, when you open he letter, you see '[...]' where the steward's name should be and the misc quest message says 'Purchase Frostbrook Farm from [...].' then you won't get any purchase dialogue when you visit the steward.
If, after following these steps, you still see no dialogue option to purchase the farm when you talk to the steward in Whiterun then I can only assume it is a mod clash issue. Unfortunately I have no way of knowing how to fix this except to suggest that you start a brand new character with nothing but official Skyrim content (official DLC is fine) then add in the Frostbrook Farm mod. Once you've moved in, add in any other mods you like. If that doesn't help, sorry, but I have no idea how to fix the problem for you as I know it works fine for me after numerous playtests with just official Skyrim content.
One subscriber has found that moving the Frostbrook Farm file up the load order que ahead of Dawnguard and Dragonborn has fixed this issue in her case (many thanks evenrocksgrow). Another subscriber has noted that going to see the house before purchasing it prevented the purchase dialogue from showing up.so see if that help in your case (thanks Will Killum).

I can't move my adopted children into Frostbrook.
Make sure you have Frostbrook loaded after Heartfires.esm and any mods that tamper with the adoption or spouse quests. Also, you may find it helps to move them to a standard Skyrim or Heathfire player house then move them into Frostbrook from there.

I just found this mod and love it! The only glitch's so far are I can't display all of the dragon claws, or necklaces.

This mod's time is over. It used to be as good as anything else , now it 's outdated and buggy and clashes with other cooler mods that work together and not with the old Frostbrook . Rest in peace .

Can you kill the goats and add a cow? You can't make bread with Goat's milk, and you don't get more milk from 3 goats, since it takes 3 to make the same amount of milk as 1 cow. If there are recipes specifically for Goat's milk, then at least make it so you can make bread with either one.

Some of the "Display an Item" benchtops in the basement are misaligned and items end up in the wall and can't be picked up again. (I have only tried a few, so maybe not all of them.)

Also the weapon display in the enchanting room is bugged. If you add a weapon to it, it will be stuck there forever... so don't put anything there that you might ever need to use again. It will also just stack one weapon on top of another if you try to replace it with something else, and both will be stuck. (More weapons will similarly be stuck, and eventually may cause a visual display crash.)

Dear @HappyOwl, it is a crying shame you decided to leave in that “The player has joined all 3 main factions” test message. It flashes every few seconds in my Oldrim game. Took weeks to find which mod it was, and the info buried 44 pages deep in your comments. Thanks to @stevelott4 for his comment or might not have found it since it’s not in the description.
This is my absolute favourite house mod, such a genius design for immersion, but the test message destroys immersion and interferes with gameplay. If you ever come back I hope you fix it.

It's a good mod, but sadly I have to delete it.

This message, "The Player Has Joined All 3 Factions" pops up every two minutes and I'm certain this mod is the culprit.

I am having a problem creating giant and deer models on a trophy machine. Of all the necessary items for creating these models, I cannot find the deer skins I need, both for a giant (6 pcs.) And for a deer (2 pcs.). Half of Skyrim killed the deer, but all the skins were not the right ones. Tell me how to fix this.

Found this mod after searching for a farmhouse. Installed and ran with no problems, apart from the adoption thing. I'll get another house later and check that out. Got 35 other mods running with it so far, just adding them in as I go following recent game reinstall.GJ HO.

this mod is a good mode, but i deleted it because it didn't have multiple adoption for 6 children and did have it for big children growing up in Skyrim. wanted more beds and for bigger children is all. otherwise it's a very good mod. From a gamer of Skyrim, The Dagda. Prounce Doy-Da

Well done mod. All the extra's are a nice addition. Much as I like the hearthfire BYOH this is a nice small farm mod. Thank you for sharing. Upvoted.
