Description
WMI Peregrine-class Dive Bomber Mark 1 - Revision 1
This ship is 100% Vanilla, Rotor Free, and Survival Ready!

I HIGHLY recommend that you use my Camera Mod with this! (Not required)

Specifications
  • Mass: 105 382 kg (full combat load)
  • Powerplant: 38.92 MW
  • Gyroscopes: 6 (+1 per JDAM)
  • Armament: 2 Gatling Guns | 1 Gatling Turret | 4 JDAM Bombs

Description
The Peregrine Dive Bomber is WMI's answer to fortified locations!

She is built with one goal in mind: deliver Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs) onto target.
The Peregrine can carry 4 of these semi-guided munitions. Each JDAM will remember where the camera was pointed when the bomb is released and then home in on that vector. This means that once you drop the bomb, you can pull up and bug out and it will find its way to the target!

Built in is a safety mechanism that will not allow you to fire the JDAMs if your nose is over the horizon line. This is due to the fact that the projectile uses no forward propulsion of its own and instead uses gravity and side dampeners to make a "controlled fall." This particular JDAM is a purely kinetic projectile as it is designed to pierce point defence and enemy fortifications!

Toolbar Setup

  1. Drop Bomb 1
  2. Drop Bomb 2
  3. Drop Bomb 3
  4. Drop Bomb 4
  5. Targeting Camera
  6. Reverse Thrusters On/Off
  7. Gatling Guns

Tips and Tricks
  • I HIGHLY recommend that you use my Camera Mod with this! The default camera overlay is poo
  • The Peregrine is primarily designed for an anti-installation role. However, given some training you can hit large mobile targets with ease! Carriers beware >:)
  • For best accuracy, aim with the targeting camera
  • The JDAM bombs have NO forward propulsion. They instead use gravity to accelerate themselves. As such, you must release the bombs at a downwards angle.
  • You can release the bombs from stationary or at speed. Releasing from speed is the best way to ensure that the bombs hit the target at max speed
  • Steeper dive angles yield faster bomb acceleration. Also it is harder for turrets to deter a JDAM falling near vertical
  • Bank into your turns to utilize the strong ventral thrusters for better maneuvering

Thanks to Marcelo for the bomb design that I based my JDAMs off of :)

All scripts written by me :D

Whip dunno if this is still maintained, but the bomber scripts no longer work. In my testing the JDAM launcher still functions, but the missile code catches and error. if its not maintained, no worries, but this is I think a unique missile script.

Dang it, I thought keen changed that :/

I lost the original blueprint so I'll see if I can update the ship still :)

Hey Whiplash, there are two gyroscopes in the bases of the two wings that are attached to a conveyor tube and start bugging (in effect destroying the ship) when flying or releasing bombs. Small adaption needed, which should be doable in a few minutes.

Nonetheless, great design and very effective. Keep it up!

I kinda like the beeping for this; it happens so fast it sounds like the cockpit instruments running. ^^ Also, these are pretty kinetically effective already.

I need to update the payloads to me more effective kinetically and I have already converted her into a guided missile bomber :D

Oh! That is the timer looping! They made a unmentioned change to tmers making them beep when they run. I never went back and updated this version to sinence that damn noise but I'm glad you enjoy it XD

It works extremely well. I spent half an hour just lining tanks up and dropping bombs on them. It's a supremely effective weapon, the ship looks great, and I have no idea what the beeping noise in the cockpit is but it really adds to the immersion.

@Dwarf-Lord Pangolin:
This upload kinda flew under the radar. I guess I timed it wrong :P

Why have I not tested this before?! This is fantastic!
