Chaos' Adhesive Guide
By Chaos
This guide should help you get all the adhesive you should ever need without buying it. If you're like me, you might have struggled with getting adhesive. During my first playthru, I even joking called this game "The Neverending Quest for Duct Tape"! But then I had an epiphany I guess you'd call it. Now I can't use the stuff fast enough. Here I'll show you how I did it, starting right at the very beginning!

Starting
You'll start this right after you bring Preston and Gang to Sanctuary. What you'll need, and you can harvest it all in Diamond City and without stealing it even, is; Local Leader Perk Rank 1, 1 Cooking Station, 6 Tato's, 6 Mutfruit, 6 Corn, and enough steel and resources to make 2 Generators and 3 Water Purifiers (Can get in Sanctuary). Start by setting up the power and water, however you like it works. Next, plant the corn, and assign someone to harvest it (I use Mama Murphy, make that ol' drug addict pull her weight lol, which works so long as you don't build her her chair in her quest, she stops outputting once she sits down in it and she NEVER GETS OUT OF IT AGAIN). After your chosen worker start farming, plant the Mutfruit next and assign a worker (Again, I use Marcy Long). Once they are farming, plant the Tato's and assign the worker (Lastly, I use Jun Long). Make sure you put a lot of space between each resource. I've seen them quit havesting Mutfruit and Corn and all harvest the Tatos nonstop, putting them far apart alleviates that.
Expanding
Now that you have the basics (which should satisfy your tutorial quests from Stuges) it's time to think bigger. Here you'll need to "aquire" 6 more farms with at least 4 settlers at each farm and one more settlement for supply purposes with seven settlers running supply, one to each farm and one to Sactuary Hills or wherever you have setup at. Red Rocket Truck Stop, Starlight Drive-In, and Covenant (Under certain circumstances) work perfectly for supply line hubs. I've had the best luck recruiting settlers at the Croup Manor out of ALL the settlements, fyi. Of course, if you prefer, you can forego the hub and just assign an extra worker at each farm for supply, but having the hub helps me keep track of things easier. You need two farms producing Mutfruit (I use Greentop Nursery and Greygarden), two producing Tatos (I use Tenpines Bluff and Oberland Station or Abernathy Farm), and two farms producing Corn, and this is the trickey part as not many farms produce corn and the two that do initally, Finch Farm and Somerville Place, are not easy to claim very early. Finch Farm can be a downright b*stard without powerarmor. What I do is harvest extra corn from everywhere I can get my grubby little hands on it, then plant it at the Sunshine Tidings Co Op and either Oberland Station or Abernathy Farm, whichever i didn't use for Tatos. Like I said, Corn can be tricky. At this point, you might want to go back to Sanctuary Hills and add a couple of Industrial Water Purifiers (I use 2 regular and 2 industial for 100 water) and, of course, extra power. The entire point is to have 8 people havesting each resource and have it all interconnected to your water supply.
The Part You've Been Waiting For
Now, the part you've been waiting for; what the heck all of this has to do with tape. Go to you cooking station/stove, use it, and scroll to the fourth option down. You're looking for Vegtable Starch. Vegetable Starch can be crafted out of 3 Mutfruit, 3 Corn, 3 Tatos, and 1 Purifed Water, and is broken down into 5 adhesive.
Further Expansion
Now, at this point, even when they ARE producing at a good rate, you can use the adhesive pretty fast. So, now just start moving extra people to your adhesive farms 2 at a time. Once I got to 7 or 8 farmers at each farm, I stopped really having to worry about it and was able to craft adhesive 100 or so at a time (In batches of 20) whenever i came back for a pit stop (so every hour or two).
Foreword
I should point out, I'm on my sixth (6) playthough and have tested this in the last three. When i found out about vegetable starch, which I found on my thrid playthru and some of my freinds still don't know about btw, I started out by trying unsucessfully to have farms that produced all the produce like Sanctuary Hills, and it just didnt work. That's why I say to put the produce at Sanctuary Hill far apart.

geez. At this point you'd think you'd just cheat.

Brilliant, thank you...just what I was looking for. So I've mixed and matched what's on my farms and at least, I now know where the corn grows.
