Summary:

Being able to mine resources and get them into orbit, or down to a planetary base, is vitally important in Space Enginners, hence the need for a reliable and capable ship capable of getting doing just that. The Cargo Lifter Mk1 is the result of several hours work, testing thruster configurations and cargo loads in order to design and build a ship that will reliably carry in excess of 7 million KGs of cargo, on top of it's own weight or ~6 million KG, and do so without decending uncontrollablly, or failing to reach orbit before running out of fuel.

The Cargo Lifter Mk1 can support it's weight with Atmospheric thrusters below 2,000 Metres, pulsing Hydrogen thrusters on and off as it climbs above 3,000 Metres in order to reach such an altitude ( ~20,000 Metres ) that Hydrogren thrusters are no longer required, and Ion thrusters can take over.

The ship is not designed for landing on solid ground, but instead can either hover, or can be docked to a fixed docking connector ( not on a piston or rotor, but fixed to solid blocks )- at this point, you can turn off the Atmospheric thrusters and the ship will stay in place, saving fuel. Alternatively, you cna always add landing gear or a merge block to suit the needs of your base/cargo depo etc etc.
