*Introduction:*

I'm currently looking for 70s style car chase videos of these vehicles! The creators of the three best videos, posted here as comments or with links emailed to wil@wilrichardson.com, will get custom content, in the form of their own version of a vehicle in the pack, made for them!

(From http://www.allpar.com/model/roadrunner.html , accessed December 9th, 2015. Please visit this page for all the beautiful details about the real-world versions of these cars!)

The Plymouth Roadrunner and its later companion, the Dodge Super Bee were fairly unique. Based on the heavy luxury cars in the B-body line (Belvedere/Satellite), the Roadrunner was lighter than the smaller ’Cuda. To make it both light and cheap, the Roadrunner had few amenities - forget about carpet, for example. Creature comforts gave way to sheer performance and cost considerations.

The idea behind the Road Runner had been running around Highland Park for a while, but management had turned it down. Reportedly, it was eventually produced “despite” management opposition, and Dodge immediately clamored for and got its own version (the Super Bee) when sales figures turned up.

Yes, the Road Runner was based on the cartoon, and came complete with a horn that went beep beep! and an ad campaign featuring Wiley Coyote. Depending on the model and year, the steering wheel had a little Road Runner, and the air cleaner had a cartoon with the logo "Coyote Duster."

Though it was a hefty price in 1968 and 1969, $714 extra would buy the ultimate street engine, one unmatched by any other (except the Viper-10): the 426 Hemi. That pretty much guaranteed the ability to win at streetlight races.

The idea was apparently good enough for Dodge to steal, without giving Plymouth a single unchallenged model year. The Dodge Super Bee started at just over $3,000; the name was a play on the B-Body on which both Road Runner and Super Bee were based (Belvedere and Coronet, respectively). Chrysler’s other cars were the A-bodies, C-bodies, and D-bodies, at the time.

The Dodge Super Bee used a mascot which did not require them to pay royalties, since it was created in-house; unlike Plymouth, they could use 3D die-cast medallions to show off their mascot, right from the start. Like Road Runner, Super Bee took an intermediate sedan and added heavier duty shocks and suspension components, bigger brakes, and a different hood. It had one inch more wheelbase than the Roadrunner, resulting in a little more weight (around 65 lb). As one might expect from a more upscale brand, as Dodge was at the time, the Super Bee came better equipped, boasting the Charger’s cluster and, for four-speeds, a Hurst Competition Plus shifter and linkage, while Road Runner made do with a cheaper Inland setup.

-----------------

The vehicles in the 'Birds and the Bees' pack by Sigma-6 come in a variety of colours and configurations.

The Roadrunners, which are a slightly upgraded version of my almost ten-year-old Roadrunner model from the 'Sigma-6 Vehicle pack for ArmA 1, come with the engine and gear ratios for the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with the 426 HEMI.

The Super Bees, which are about half new geometry and textures (the rest being edited original geometry, textures, and materials from the old Road Runner model), come with the engine and gear ratios for the 1969 Super Bee 440 Six Pack.

The two 1977 Plymouth Fury police cars, added to give you something to chase the muscle cars with, come with a somewhat anachronistic 1969 383 Magnum. These models lack LODs (though they're not too hefty in terms of polycount anyway) and are model-wise essentially unchanged from the ArmA version, except that materials and textures have been updated with what ArmA III offers. I will be making no updates beyond simple bugfixes to these police cars, because in my view they are like studio cars in car chase movies; barely dressed up to drive with working engines, intended to be crashed and destroyed. They are props for chases, in short. I will not be embarking upon the adventure of adding a working lightbar, siren, or detailed interior. Sorry, that's for someone else to do.

Everything (art-wise) in this pack is Copyright (c) 2015 by William Richardson, except for things that are IP of Warner Brothers, Chrysler, or BI. Use this addon pack according to the BI O2 and ArmA licenses. If you have any intention of editing or altering anything in this pack for re-release, or have any comments, please contact me at: Wil@wilrichardson.com. I'm usually good about that kind of stuff.

Its true.. these cars are beautifully done but for some completely stupid reason they are made so you cant steer them over 15 mph. So frustrating and sad.

This mod disappoints me every time I use it, it's like the creator only knows cars from memes.
