Description
Broadhead - Atmospheric Fighter
No mods, no rotors, survival ready.

Stealthy, aggressive style in a lightweight package.

The Broadhead was my first attempt at designing a true atmospheric fighter. I got rid of a lot of the unnecessary directional thrusters in favor of more downward and rearward facing thrusters. The original version of the Broadhead didn't quite have the performance I wanted out of it, but the ship has been updated to address that problem. It's now easily a match for the Wyvern in handling. Overall, the Broadhead is a fantastic ship. Style and performance in a compact package.

<Warning> The Broadhead is intended to be flown much like an actual plane or helicoptor. 90% of its thrusters are aimed downward and behind it. You need to use your downward facing thrusters for cornering, just rotate the ship and pull up into the turn the same way you would in an actual fighter. If you're having trouble figuring it out, watch the attached video for an example.

Mass:
35,600kg

Power Plant:
1x Large Reactor
2x Small Reactor
*Uranium can be added through the small container beneath the ship

Thrusters:
Up: 1x Large Atmospheric Thrusters, 10x Small Atmospheric Thrusters
Down: None
Forward: 2x Large Atmospheric Thrusters, 2x Small Atmospheric Thrusters
Back: 2x Small Atmospheric Thrusters
Side: 1x Small Atmospheric Thruster

Armaments:
2x Gattling Guns

If you enjoyed the Broadhead, take a look at the Wyvern.

Thanks, I hope you have as much fun with the Broadhead as I do.

Change Log
12/03@6:00PM - Thruster damage should be fixed. One of the reverse thrusters was moved forward a bit. Horizontal thrusters were moved up to prevent roasting the wing. Two small reactors were added to help alleviate overload at low altitudes. The large reactor and both small reactors can be fueled through the small container on the underside of the ship. Overload still occurs at low altitude, but I'm hesitant to tinker with it any more than I already have.
11/28@12:30PM - Slight revision to the back of the wing.
11/28@12:00PM - Added landing skids to keep the engines out of the dirt. Images and videos have been updated.
11/28@5:00AM - Massive update to the ship. Added air vent and a fourth gyroscope. Also managed to tack on 4 more vertical small atmospheric thrusters. Those handling concerns I mentioned before? Gone. The wing was also extended behind the forward thrusters so that it connects to the body of the ship at the back. All of the sleek aggressive style from before has been retained and refined, yet the performance of this ship is much higher than before. New photos and videos will be my priority once I get some sleep, so expect an update later today.
11/28@1:30AM - Fixed some wingtip damage that I hadn't noticed, and then deleted that section of wing. The engines on the wings were moved back a block and the wings were streamlined just a touch. I'll upload new photos tomorrow.

If you want it to bank automatically you can add Naosyth's Flight assist script, makes it much easier and manageable to fly

Absolutely, you're welcome to use any of my ships.

Hello, I was wondering if I could use this in my mod. I need loads of ships for it to be effective. I will cite this workshop in my description.

It's a great looking design! It occurs to me that Naosyth's Auto Hover script would be a great fit for this ship if there's room in there for a program block and timer. One of the modes is a "Roll" mode that allows forward velocity while automatically rolling the ship to kill sideways velocity. In essence, it would "auto-bank" into turns. I used it on one of my own designs recently using downward and aft thrust only and it resulted in some beautifully smooth flight mechanics.

It's just the standard light armor 1x2 angled blocks.
