Several of my pets have been overweight too. I had a beagle that my Dad took in from our neighbors when she was just a puppy. They had her tied to a weed-eater! He offered them money, but they gave her to us for free along with a big bag of dog-food. They had already given her the humorous name of Bagel. My black Labrador-Retriever, Maui, used to play with Bagel, and would sit on top of her! Then Bagel got fat and became lazy. I remember when a former co-worker of mine was visiting and had been bitten by another dog in the neighborhood, he called Animal Control, and I was outside with him, to make sure everything was o.k. My dogs were outside, and Bagel was laying in my lawn right next to the road. Well, Bagel got up, took five steps, and laid down in the middle of the road! Animal Control laughed their heads off! Fortunately, I live in small development of only 9 houses, and everyone drives carefully. Bagel came inside before anyone else came.

They're among the largest house-cats, along with Norwegian Forest cats. Both breeds are true 'gentle giants'; my Jean (pronounced like the French name) was as sweet and laid-back as could be. I loved him very much. I truly hope he comes back some day.

Same here. I once had a Maine Raccoon cat live with me for about 6 months, then he just disappeared. A shame, too; I really liked him, he was so chill.
