Mistral tilt engine VTOL ship.

Description
My first published design, the Mistral.

Designed as a scout/survey ship, the Mistral has four rotating engine pods giving it VTOL capability to land on planets and explore them. These engine pods work without needing any sort of thrust override, you can control them as you normally would, and reconfigure them for VTOL or normal flight with the push of a button. The Mistral is also jump capable with two drives.

Internally the cockpit seats three, with an additional six in the ready room/passenger compartment, and two beds in the stern cabin.

Ship is fully set up with conveyors.

they could add a rotor option that if triggered will make controllable thursters on the rotor's grid.

Yeah, it's a bit complex and finicky, but that's due to the limitations of the game. A cockpit will only control thrusters that are on the same grid, and blocks that are on the same grid can't move relative to one another.

Doing this kind of design any other way would probably require some fairly significant modifications to the game's code, and I don't think implementing something like that is a particularly high priority at the moment.

oh damn if there was a easier way...

@min473 Thanks. The pods use merge blocks. It's set up so that the pods can be merged in either the upwards or forwards position. To switch the timer blocks decouple the merge blocks, push the pods out on pistons for clearance, rotate the pod with a rotor, then pull them back in and recouple the merge blocks in the new position.

could you tell me please how did you make the pods work without thrust override?
nice design.
