Vanilla Maps by Mr Miyagi - No Mods, No Subs, Just Plain!
29 items
Description
2018 Now Vanilla! All images marked 2018 are this current edition.

Update changes:
- Complete and total remake of infrastructure
- Traffic load reduced by 75% - thank you Agusingnavy for the massive, efficient Spaghetti Junction
- Significant terrain update for better play and nicer scenery (deeper seas, more flat, even build space, no more flooding issues)
- It is now all vanilla. Use Prop It Up mod if you'd like to convert the vanilla trees to your choice of custom tree. Suggestions:
- Vanilla Beech: replace with a stout, bushy tree. The bushier the tree, the better
- Vanilla Palm: your choice of palm or other tropical tree

Don't let the mountains fool you! Over 50% of the land inside the borders of your new province is flat! This paradise can support a gigantic city.

With nearly every city district having its own private beach and mountain backdrop, tourists will be flocking to your new province on New Caledonia, the Heart of the Pacific!

Made famous by aerial photos of the naturally-occuring heart shaped by mangrove trees, New Caledonia is the premier location to build the next "best kept secret" in travel locations. This is the kind of secret that brings you wealth almost overnight!

With rich resources, your new province will hum with the sound of industry and commerce, drawing ever more people to fill your municipal coffers!

Be sure to pay homage to the local sea goddess, who the locals believe are the cause of the powerful whirlpool in the main bay. Goddess or no goddess, your tourists and residents will appreciate the beautiful waves rushing by.

For all the details, please see our colour brochure above!

Make your move to the heart of the Pacific!

Thanks to Spacepixel for the beautiful video project touring their finished city!

The giant Heart of Voh can be seen clear as day on Google Earth at -20.937039, 164.659837

The unusual pillar type pine found on New Caledonia is a survivor from Gondwanaland of the dinosaur era! It is represented here by Shroomblaze's tree, which looks quite a bit like it, found here. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=414477997

Airplane props in image are by SvenPotsdam, the amazing collection of countless different airlines can be found here: http://steamproxy.net/workshop/filedetails/?id=481652147

ehhhh :D the old version is a nightmare to play on and horribly made, but I aim to please, so here is the original map file itself. Place it here C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Maps That will effectively be your map, so do whatever you want to it in map editor, save, and play on your own copy! You can also republish your edited version :) I am happy to let others do so. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mkc1hb5ib78lo48/New%20Caledonia%20by%20Mr%20Miyagi.crp?dl=0

and... luckily my comments aren't tough to deal with at all. Those poor code modders, though. They get enough salt to fill up the Dead Sea :steamsalty: :steamfacepalm:

Aww thanks. I'm sorry again, and I didn't know you are new to the game. How mods affect things and what's totally safe (maps, map themes, a good portion of assets) vs risky (mods, of course, assets with a zillion triangles or absurdly large textures) has one heck of a learning curve.
Here's my best suggestion to give you a good leap ahead:
- As few mods as possible. Always look for a statement that says "will not affect save game". Road network mods are best avoided as a beginner. Road assets are a safer bet.
- Mesh Info - will save your life. Allows you to see stats of all items subscribed to. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=453956891&searchtext=mesh+info
- Loading Screen Mod - tells you if you're exceeding RAM, which causes crashes and freezes https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=667342976&searchtext=loading

Hey, I get it. I'm new to the game. So, I make stupid mistakes and ask a TON of stupid questions.
I'm learning that the problems I find are usually on MY end. So... I'm trying to learn to hold my questions/comments until I've tested and exhausted all other avenues.
I don't know why dealing with us noobs doesn't drive all you great modders away from the community and running for the hills. :D
You're one of the best in the community. Thanks for all you do.
