The Octo-Galaxy Police department is the national police department of the Octo-Galaxy which is a large nation that consists of eight (8) main galaxies and multiple other galaxies plus some colonies. The Octo-Galaxy is split into multiple districts such as District A which are further split into regions such as Region 24. The GPD spans from local law enforcement to district wide military. Since late 3415 the GPD has completely taken over the role of the local law enforcement due increase of major crimes and in 3417 the GPD further developed State Troopers and increased the number of sheriff offices. Local GPD law enforcement (Police, Sheriff and State Troopers) as well as local GPD SWAT preform the same tasks as any other police force and enforcing the preservation of the unity is integrated in regular police duties. These local GPD law enforcement have multiple departments, stations and offices for each state and are normally under the command of the city government but could obviously be commanded by anyone higher. Despite being your everyday police force, everyday isn't easy for the GPD as the GPD are constantly attacked by major criminals, rebels and terrorists who are armed with automatic, anti-tank and other dangerous weaponry which is why GPD officers are regularly seen armed with assault rifles and machine guns. Further to this topic Local GPD law enforcement would also sometimes have pickup trucks armed with a dual .50 caliber machine gun on top sent in as first response and each GPD station's SWAT teams would have access to at least one Tacticules vehicle whether it's from their station or a nearby station. Most states also have access to a Major Crime Unit (MCU) which oversee the database for major criminals in the entire state for local GPD to use and are also for dealing with major crime organizations and that one local police division alone can't deal with and the MCU keeps track of these major crime organizations and assists the local GPD to take them down. The MCU also has a Special Task Force for counterterrorism and mass raids, the STF are also the main tool of the MCU for tackling down major crime organizations and taking out terrorists. The STF is highly trained in all types of combat and are also highly trained for survival in harsh conditions. The MCU takes out crimes for the state but the FBI are the ones in charge of the crime and intelligence gathering for the whole country along with the FBI SWAT for doing the hard work and for the whole GPD they have the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and their Special Response Team (SRT). Time travelling is also illegal under the laws of the Octo-Galaxy and sometime after the disbanding of the death squads there was nobody to enforce that so the GPD formed the Interdimensional Time Order Agency (IDTOA) to make sure time is not altered and unlike the death squads will deal with this peacefully unless absolutely necessary.
The GPD taking over the local law enforcement was recent but the GPD have long taken over the role of the military since 3395 and the GPD have multiple military branches. Firstly, there's the Homeland Peacekeepers which is a planetary peacekeeping organization in charge of customs and border protection. Next is the National Guard which is a military organization for each state in case if something goes bad in one state. National Guard is often called in during a State of Emergency one example being mass a large terrorist group creates a mass attack on a city or the whole state but if the problem is big enough other nearby National Guard bases can also join in. Per region is the Peacekeepers which are much larger military organization than the National Guard, the PeaceKeepers can be called in if something bad happens to an entire planet or country that is too large for the National Guard's per state command or they can even be sent in if an area is not under GPD control whether it's a random rock in space, an uninhabited planet or a planet that had called for help from the GPD. The PeaceKeepers also leave the Octo-Galaxy to find civilizations and spread the Octo-Galaxy and create some colonies which they then try to make the whole galaxy a part of the unity, a great example is Grand Paper Ville and the galaxy M287. Around the 3990s and early 3400s some of district A's PeaceKeepers developed a colony in Grand Paper Ville which the PeaceKeepers organized the city, assisted their military and military police and protected them from Joe Shredder's army the JSA, but the Joe Shredder Army became large and fought the GPD PeaceKeepers bringing all-out war. There was too much casualties for the GPD PeaceKeepers which, District A leader Dolphy brought up the idea of the GP ARMY. The GP Army are a district wide military force to be called in if something happens to the PeaceKeepers. The GP Army were thought of because the PeaceKeepers were meant to be able to stand on their own against another army but Joe Shredder proved this wrong as the GPD PeaceKeepers were well trained, well-educated to spread the unity, are regional and are meant to spread out, JSA greatly outnumbered them which Dolphy answered by forming the GP Army, which is easier to get into and only requires minimum education and are less trained than the PeaceKeepers but come in great numbers. Although PeaceKeepers are a whole army and can already have a great number of troops the GP Army can substantially increase the number and will be sent in if someone threatens the PeaceKeepers.
