RWI Thames Fleet Carrier Mk.1

Description
**No Mods**

**9/23/2018 Mark 2 now available! https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1521498853 **

Once again based on the Danube chasis, the Thames Fleet Carrier takes the refit work done on the Rhein class vessels to the logical conclusion - adding a second reinforced hanger by stripping out further cargo capacity (only 25% of the Danube's original array remains).

To ensure longevity as the design purpose for the vessel creeps closer to direct combat, the Thames more than doubles the point defense systems from the Rhein, and pays particular attention to closing the escort carrier's gaps in weapon coverage.

Further acknowledging the requirements of military and paramilitary maneuvers, the Thames also overhauls portions of the interior, rerouting several conveyor lines for turret support, and more than doubling the available gyroscope power.

Through the common sensor profiles of all three vessels based on the Danube chasis, the work of hostile commanders is made far more difficult - is the ship on sensors an unarmed fleet tender, a fully armed fleet carrier, or something in between? How many forces must be tied up to deal with this vessel?

@Zahltag - Started on the refit work today. So far the bridge glass has been realigned, exterior detailing improved, hanger walls detailed, some additional hangar lighting added, and inter-deck passageways replaced with much better stair setups. Unfortunately, I no longer have the original hard drive, so when ready it will have to be posted as a separate item - I'll drop a link in here at that point.

Your carriers are already epic, but maybe you could make them even better looking and slightly more functional than they already are?

Yes please :D

@Zahltag - I'm glad you think so! This ship (and many of my other older designs) is probably due for an overhaul, but the sheer size of this one has been making me put it off. If people are still enjoying it, however, maybe I can bump it up my to-do list a bit!

@Visentinel - Thank you! Having the reactors in the engine pods seemed like a logical position initially in the cargo configuration, as I would otherwise have had either dead space or a room that needed an access passage far away from the rest of the crew zones. In this carrier configuration, however, it did pose some challenges to keep it connected by conveyor to the rest of the ship while not infringing on the flight decks too much.

lol yeah from a RP standpoint its cool. but my grinder was very busy lastnight lol :P

I was impressed btw with the use of the empty space in the engine pods for reactors, very good idea.
