Description
The Fabrication and Repair Vehicle “FRV”, or as it is more often affectionately referred to as the “Shipwright”, is Void Corp’s light construction and repair vehicle.

Features:

• Forward facing welders (2)
• Forward facing spotlight (1)
• A welder safety sensor which automatically disables the welders if a person is detected within close range of the welders
• Auto alignment sensors and gyroscopes which, when active, automatically orient the craft so that it remains perpendicular to a large surface area. This is useful when fabricating or repairing a large flat section of a ship or station. With this feature one can safely thrust up, down, right, and left without working about crashing into the object being welded because of a slight misalignment
• Keel mounted docking connector
• Keel mounted landing gear (2)
• Keel mounted docking camera and remote – the remote is oriented so that a pilot in the cockpit can control the ship via this remote while viewing the docking camera without the disorientation that normally comes with controlling a ship from a different perspective (i.e. with this remote looking through the downward facing camera, up is still up, down is still down, etc.)
• Forward flight remote control tied into a timer – these can be used in tandem to facilitate autopilot functionality
• Oxygen tank (1)
• Beacon (1), Antenna (1), Laser Antenna (1)
• Large Cargo Container (1)

Specifications:

• Mass: 24,238 kg
• Power: 16 Small Reactors (1.6 MW)
• Thrust: 144 KN forward, 72 KN port/starboard, 72 KN retro, and 72 KN vertical
• Maneuvering: 2 gyroscopes (12,119 kg/gyro)
• Acceleration: 0 – 104.7 m/s in 17.8 seconds
• Weapons systems: None
• Tools: 2 Welders
• Cargo Capacity: 34,902 L
• Life Support: 1 Oxygen Tank

*Made without mods and fully compatible with survival

Next up: The Void Corp Operations Support Vessel (OSV) and the Light Mining Vehicle (LMV) “Prospector”

no worries, my friend. I created a solar panel to get some power through, then just removed it. Not a big deal, thanks for the response!

Sorry Rapp - I haven't looked at this in ages. They might have changed the path/connectors of some blocks since I put it together which could have broken the connections. Glad you like the idea at least - sorry for the trouble!

Great idea and great seeming ship, but I have one problem that's probably due to me being fairly new - it spawns without uranium (from blueprints) and for the life of me I can't get it fueled. Not through the cockpit or the connector. How do I go about doing that?

Np, glad you worked it out! Have fun and thank you for checking out the ship :)

Hi GopeScope, am having problems building your beautiful craft. As I'm new to the Black Art of projecting ships in Survival mode I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong - when I project the blueprint the projector is right in the middle of the ship, the projector supports masking the interior of the craft. How do I get it to project it from 'an edge'?

Thanks pwneater! Yes, I avoid rotors and pistons because that was part of Keen's suggestions/requirements for exploration (and just good sense because they don't work well in multiplayer). As far as landing gear goes, I only recently heard about any issues associated with them, in fact only one person before you has mentioned it to me. We are already pretty limited on what functional blocks can be used in building, it would be a shame if landing gear was closed to us too. I hope they don't blow up on you! :)

Thanks again and happy engineering!

Oh, and thanks for the cool builds. The story lines and creative video editing are great too.

I noticed you guys use landing gear, but not rotors, or pistons. Have you found a solution to the landing gear blowing up problem? Does this ship have landing gear problems like the ships I build?
Lyra Hamstrings 12 Jun, 2015 @ 9:08pm
I don't know if they're blueprints or or replacement ships or what, but a few people have just been dumping loads and loads of ships onto the workshop. One guy has a collection full of nothing but these white and orange boxes with no difference between each individual one except for one component, like a medical room or a refinery.
