Description
Adds The Ilkhanate under Ghazan. Requires BNW

In 1257, the grandson of Genghis Khan, Möngke Khan, ordered his brother Hulagu to submit all the Muslim States as far as Egypt and gave him control of a subordinate horde, the Ilkhanate, to do so. Hulagu Khan assembled what might have been the largest Mongol army to have ever been formed and, with his 150.000 men and some Christian allies, he conquered Iran, the Ismaili Assassins and then marched against the Abassid Caliph, who dismissed his proposals of paying tributes to the Mongols to avoid war. Instructed by Möngke Khan to destroy Baghdad should the Caliph refuse to surrender, Hulagu besieged and for one entire week sacked and destroyed the once prosperous city, killing most of its inhabitants; estimates of the death toll have ranged from 200,000 to a million. Thus ended the Golden Age of Islam and began the rule of the Ilkhans.
