Babylon Tweaks

Description
Sure, Babylon is one of the strongest civilizations in the game, but that doesn't mean they're that interesting. Everything about their unique traits is very passive, and their only bonuses are the inherit bonuses that come with having a significant technology lead.

This mod aims to make Babylon a little more interesting to play, by changing the unique traits of Babylon to the following:

  • The Bowman now has a promotion that gives them a +20% combat bonus against melee units. This makes them more of a monster in the Ancient era, but now that promotion carries over upon upgrade, making them not completely useless as soon as Composite Bowmen show up.

  • The Walls of Babylon now give +1 culture. That's not too shabby for a maintenance free building, and it might give you an incentive to actually build walls in lower difficulties. Furthermore, after researching Flight, the walls will provide +2 tourism.

  • The ability is now as follows: Receive a free Great Scientist upon discovering Writing. +25% Great Scientist generation. Scientist specialists provide culture. +2 happiness from Courthouses.

With all these new bonuses, something had to take a hit, and it was the great scientist generation rate. This can still get crazy high with all the other modifiers you can rack up over the course of the game. Scientists give +2 culture, which should give you some more policies to make you more versatile with policies. The courthouse happiness is basically Hammurabi and his code of laws having a cameo here, and further emphasizes Babylon's early game war potential.

This mod isn't supposed to be a nerf to Babylon, nor is it intended to buff them. They're going to be OP either way. I just want to make them more interesting to play.

Requires the Babylon DLC (obviously) and Brave New World (because of tourism).

Ok so for whatever reason it wasn't being recognized. Went into Documents\My Games\Civ 5\MODS\ and manually changed the mod file to zip, re-unpacked into the folder of the same name, took ownership, baleeted the zip and reloaded the game and it's there now

Where is this download? Subscribing doesn't work. Direct download doesn't work. I specifically wanted to play this just now. Darn.

If you direct downloaded, it's probably a .civ5mod file. Open that with winrar or 7zip and put the folder in the mods folder. The workshop sometimes has problems extracting those

Unfortunately, it's still not showing up on my mod list in game. I tried subscribing and downloading directly and neither method has the mod showing up

Regardless, I added a direct download link.
