Terracotta Army Fix

There's nothing more useless than units that cost you maintenance, give you a hit against the number of units your empire can support, and are on top of all that pretty darn weak as compared to the units you would have gotten if you'd just built them in the normal way. If you don't like the fact that in BNW the Terracotta Army gives you units that are born without experience or the promotions the constructing city would otherwise give, this mod will fix that for you.

With this mod in operation, for BNW, your free units will get the XP and promotions they ought to have, and the city where you construct the wonder will thereafter produce land units 25% faster.

The mod should work fine for Gods and Kings, and will give the same instant free units as are given in BNW. However, assuming I structured the code correctly, in Gods and Kings you will not get the 25% bump to unit production. You already get 6 Culture per turn in G+K from the Terracotta Army, so that's already a pretty nice effect.

This mod won't work for Vanilla because there's no TerraCotta Army in Vanilla.

Mod Compatibilities - DLL mods
1. DLL mods of versions released before approximately Oct 2014 will almost certainly break this mod because they almost certainly do not contain code to make them conform to patch version #1.0.3.276 and the numerous lua mod-methods added in patch version #1.0.3.276
2. W. Howard's VMC (Various Mods Components) should be compatible, and he has given me instructions to make his older dll mod-versions operate correctly with this mod
3. Other dll mods may or may not break this mod

1. Copy or drag the xxxx.civ5mod file from your downbloads folder to your Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS/ folder.
2. The start the game and go into the MODS menu.
3. Wait about 30 seconds and the mod should unpack itself from the zipped form and be ready to use.

Also if using IGE to test whether it works, this is a no go. The method being used by the lua program has to see the wonder being produced 'naturally' as part of the turn-processing between turns.

You can hurry using a Great Engineer(s), but you still have to let the wonder occur naturally as a part of what happens when you press NEXT TURN.


Also, CP, CBP? Other mods with a custom dll ? whoward69's Various Mods Components dll should work since most of the patch# 276/9 originally came from whoward's code.

Be sure that you have allowed the game to be updated to the latest version (1.0.3.279) because the mod uses lua code added in the most recent patches (Fall of 2014)

I too have decided not to use this mod, since I didn't get the units either. I have BNW and latest version.

You must have an incomplete or corrupt download then. It has never not worked for me. Steam does not like mediafire links anymore, so I will have to look into an alternative hosting-place for a direct download of the mod.

I have the newest version as well as all dlc's g&k and bnw. tried a second game and same thing happened. just gonna not use this i guess.

Do you have the most recent update to the game? You need game version 1.0.3.276

My understanding was that the patch version was valid for all 3 expansion levels of the game. Do you have BNW or only G&K ?

I recieved zero units using this mod. i had 16 in toatal, with 5 unique units between the 16. I was very disappointed. I am at still getting the = 25% bonus though, so just gonna keep playing without the extra units.

I guess I don't understand the comments I am seeing about the 'massive army' concept.
