WinRAR is required for this: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (Other zip extracters will work too)

IF you encounter errors you may need to update your Framework .net or your Visual Studio files there are plenty of tutorials online that will explain how to do so or a quick google search will do the trick.

1. You want to go to https://code.google.com/p/x360ce/downloads/list and download x360ce.App 2.1.2.191 (Step 2 for Scholar of the First Sin Step 3 for Dark Souls II Original)

2. You want to download the 64 bit library (x360ce_lib64_r848_VS2010.zip)

3. You want to download the 32 bit library (x360c3_lib32_r848_VS2010.zip)

4. Once you download the App place it in the root folder of your Dark Souls II installation typically located within your steam directory under steamapps/common/Dark Souls II/Game or steamapps/common/Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin/Game

5. Run it and allow it to make a .ini file but not a Xinput1_3.dll file

6. Configure your keybindings, go to settings database and hit save then hit load

7. Navigate to your X360ce.ini file and type this under the command heading [HookInput]
HookCOM=1 (This should be placed under Inputmode)

8. Extract the Xinput1_3.dll, X360ce.gbd and DInput8.dll files into the root folder of your game

9. Run X360ce again and do the same thing as step 6 (Without configuring your keybindings as you already done so)

10. Run the game hit ok on the error that pops up it is irrelevant

11. If you hear a 'ding' sound this means it has worked and you should be able to play
