THE BASIS
So, you're ready to tackle the wonders brought to us by the Scholar of the First Sin, but have hit a little bit of a brick wall?
What's that, you say? "Are the DLC doors locked or something? I should be able to open them..." Well, good sir, I regret to inform you that all of the keys to the DLCs are hidden away in the world! But, fear not, for I have discovered the locations of them for you!
Chapter 1
The Sunken King

The splenderous Dragon Talon* is arguably the most difficult one to attain, requiring more legwork and difficult combat than the others. The Dragon Talon* is located underneath Majula, locked away in that musty old room that contains treasure chests that is reachable by descending the well.
To even begin to fathom entering that strange doorway, you must trekk down to the foul place known as Black Gulch, where you must drop down a couple of ledges near the second bonfire that leads to a cave with two giants in it. Defeat BOTH giants to attain the Forgotten Key, and then head through the door below Majula! The talon will be located on a corpse near the doorway you enter through.
Chapter 2
The Old Iron King
The Heavy Iron Key is a really painful one to get, so fire resist is really handy here. But, anyway, it is located in the fire salamander pit under the Forest of Fallen Giants. You can either use the Iron Key from the statue past Iron Keep's bridge that spits out fire , OR you can drop down from near the second bonfire with a lot of health and the Silvercat Ring. The key is located on a corpse deep inside the cave, near a fire salamander that shoots fireballs out of a hole. You also get the Rebel's Greatshield from the same corpse.
Chapter 3
The Ivory King
The Frozen Flower is the easiest of the keys to obtain, and can be found simply through normal play. It will be on a corpse in the room just past the door you open near Drangleic Castle's first bonfire. The first room to your right that you open by defeating the Stone Soldiers in front of it, which is required to progress anyway so...
Final Chapter
The End

And that's all for now, folks! All of the DLC key locations covered, now get out there and get battling your enemies in the different frontiers presented to you!

This is Saint signing out. Peace!

Easy way to quickly get to the Heavy Iron Key: rather than drop down into the salamander pit, go to the small clearing with hollow infantry and the two (sorry, I don't know the actual name for them) turtle knights. Clear them out, then snipe the salamander at the end of the tunnel. Once it's dead, sprint down the tunnel and jump at the gap in the bars, to the left side of it. Done right, your character will slide over the top. Just grab the key and homeward bone it out of there.

I had my eye on the Bewitched Alonne Sword. So I guess I need to have the heart after all. Thanks, that answered my question. Now I need to figure out what to do with my build until then.

Not really. The only use that the Ashen Mist Heart would have during the DLCs is that having it in your possession is the only way to acces the Sir Alonne boss fight in the Crown of the Old Iron King DLC.

Either way, you're going to be close to getting the ashen mist heart anyway if you're going to access the ivory DLC due to the key being inside of drangleic castle.
