I am planning on releasing a guide for people to make their own terrain mods soon. It will allow people more flexibility for those who want to customize their game. I don't know when I'll be able to write the guide because I am quite busy with university right now. By Friday I should have posted it, either on steam as a guide or on the cities skylines modding subreddit. I will link to the guide on in the mod descriptions once I post it.

@KaspeR I'm sure it could be done with more extensive modding. As of right now I am not sure it is possible. I will look into it.

I think these mods are great. Is there anyway to just have the grass die and turn into dirt? Like what you see around a tree when you place it.
