Fulgore - DFL Version

Description
*Note that in the screenshots it shows more than 3 weapons as well as the reloadable rocket launcher. These were taken of the original version. The DFL version has these removed with only 3 weapon ports being used. The others are left open.*

The Z60 Fulgore has completed its final flight tests and preperations. It is now ready to enter the DFL league.

As mentioned by LSG in his video, it meets the following critera:

-3 Weapons max (1x Scatter, 2x Gatling gun)
-Light armor only
-Uses Sage thruster, Armor ramps (uncleste), and scatter cannon mods only
-Conveyored & Survival Compatible
-Small ship
-Not designed as a ramming ship
-Cockpit is exposed and can be used in first person

This fighter also takes advantage of timer and programming blocks, to achieve some gyro override functions that would simulate trim on an aircraft. There is also a scripted afterburner included as well. There are also two modes that swap between using all thrusters/gyros and about 1/4 of them. The maneuver mode is used to taxi & land on stations and carriers, as well as provide stability for long range strafing runs.

If it is later decided that programming blocks are disallowed, then I will gladly shut them off and not use them. However the programs themselves don't provide any large advantages to the tournament. The only questionable one would be the afterburner.

*Specifications included on textpanel in blueprint
*Instructions included on textpanel in each fighter

The blueprint comes with 5 liveries of the Fulgore attached to a station with connectors. It may take a few seconds for the blueprint to load and you may encounter a momentary freeze when dropping it into your world.

@Lyzion no offense taken ;)

I definitely understand where you are coming from, because with added size comes the problem of added cost for performance.

I generally dont build large ships, and I like piloting small ships, so the more functionality I can get the better I say ;) Maybe its because I played too much DCS... but if we do one day get the ability to create a custom cockpit GUI then I will definitely be focusing on small ships only at that point :D

@ DarkKore1234 - that was no offense, I just doubt that a small maneuverable vessel need that lot of functionality. And I was especially reffering to thrust/weight ratio and sheer size. The larger the vessel is, the more surface it gives to get hit. Redundancy would be an argument. But the more safety/redundancy the less performance. Guess its also a kind of philosophic question. And dont get me wrong, I really like that design.

@Lyzion I would have to argue that is very contextual in regards to weight. This ship hull has a lot of room for future improvement when we get more blocks and functionality with small ships, something that my other more lighter designs are unfortunately lacking.

Turret mounted guns is something I thought of, but until they are stable in MP I simply avoided using them. Maybe one day though...

Everything that exceeds 35tons is generally overbuilt with unneccesary weight and components.
mounted my gunry in the nose and on the short wings, wing mounted guns are mounted on a rotor to slightly turn them. With this you can set a convergency point ^^ But all in all its still in developement, and not built for the DFL. Its also underlined by some economic aspects. Maybe I´ll modify my fighter to make it work for DFL

i like this design. still making my ship...

I'm not a skillfull pilot, I can build cool stuff, and I know the theory of dog fighting, but no practical skills. lol. If I win anything it'll be by sheer dumb luck I reckon.

@Dibble
Thats not necessarily a bad thing though, you're ship is much smaller to hit in that case ;)
So you will probably have the advantage at close range if you strafe around a lot. I'm counting on mostly my long range and autopilot functions to keep my distance in fights :P
