**Disclaimer Note For Everyone After (January 21, 2020): Yes this mod applies to the the AI also. Just because it applies to everyone doesn't change the fact that its a cheat mod because you cheating the game mechanics that were designed by the developers. Not to mention you as a human player are capable of doing things and understanding certain concepts and strategies the AI has no idea about. Also the AI generally cheats anyways either through hidden bonus or certain mechanics not being applied to them, so by removing hindrances to the player you are making things both more fair and unfair at the same time. Its more fair in the sense that you and the AI are closer to playing by the same rules. But at the same time its unfair for the AI because you have a brain and can learn and adapt to different situations, while the AI is scripted to do same thing over and over and can't adapt.

**Disclaimer Note For Everyone After (February 5, 2015): This mod is a cheat mod, not an overhaul. Meaning its NOT suppose to be balanced.

I am open to useful opinions and suggestions.

If you comment only with "this mod makes the game too easy" you will be met with extreme prejudice. My only response to people like you is "NO ♥♥♥♥ EINSTEIN! DO YOU WANT A COOKIE???"

You have the right to that opinion. Its actually a fact not an opinion that this mod makes the game to easy. But what makes you an unwanted person is that you feel the need to point out the obvious.

@Numernor It does affect railroads. The XML you made changes all "GoldMaintenance" variables from the table "Routes" to 0. That applies to ROUTE_ROAD and ROUTE_RAILROAD

Road says it cost 1 gold maintenance, but it never actually takes the money out.

Close enough for me, lol.

A few things I had to learn on Google/Reddit:

1- You need to "apply" the mods EVERYTIME you load a game. When you load up the game, you can't just select "load game" from the main menu. You need to go mods->next->single player again.

2- Sometimes you select a bunch of mods to load with the game and then when you load, they're not activated. This happens because one of the mods you chose is breaking during load and the game gives us no message whatsoever to let us know about that. If this is happening to you do this:

As soon as you start the loaded/new game, press Esc to bring up the game menu. You'll see on the bottom left corner a button saying "Mods". Click there and check if the mods were correctly loaded. If they're not, you need to "Exit to Main Menu", go again and try removing mod by mod until you figure out which one is breaking the others.

I don't know if it affects railroads. I simply change 1 to a 0 on a line of code that ask whether or not to apply road upkeep. So I am not sure if railroads are considered normal roads or not.

I am like 7 months late... but yes it affects the AI also.

Why does it affect the AI also?

Well all I did when I made this mod was change a 1 to a 0 in line of code that basically said "Road Maintenance Cost On or Off" in the game files. Obviously 1 is on and 0 is off.

While it is probably possible to make a mod that only applies to the player only, it would probably require some super unnecessarily complicated method or scripting to make it happen. It is for the most part not worth the effort to do that because the AI cheats anyways and gets a bonus to income since it has no idea how to actually manage its own economy... which makes the money the AI saves a nonfactor since it basically already has unlimited money.
