Springs and Autumns

Ancient China, the once thriving kingdom of the Zhou dynasty has been thrown into turmoil after the sack of the capital Zongzhou. Now begins the age of strife, intrigue and Confucius. The Spring and Autumn period has arrived.

The object of Springs and Autumns is to acquire four connected states in ancient China. To do this players auction off different states on the board and bid on these states with a hand of cards representing Shi (knights), seasons, scarecrows and political figures. However, unlike standard auctions in which only the highest bidder loses their bid, in Springs and Autumns every player loses their bid. Players are, in effect, bidding the number of troops they are willing to lose in order to win a province. However, several special effect cards shake the contests up and keep the players guessing.

This is a complete retheme of the game Condottierre, artwork has been completely redone, no content from the original game has been used. New card art is by Rola Chang (JungShan[jung-shan.blogspot.co.uk]). Plays 2-6 players, 45 minute playtime.
